While you're doing the door jams, you should do the underside of the actual door itself as well. They get really filthy, seems to me like you're inviting rust :p
I do it every time I clean: open the doors and give all the sills'n'jams a wipe :)

Thanks for the advice, but I did that in the first week of owning the car. I even flushed the doors out with water to get all the dirt and crap out & let it all dry out in the sun ;)

Genius! I don't like doing that, deliberately logging the door with water. But if you have time to let it dry in the sun, why not.

I don't blame you, as water will get up and inside the doors. That said though, the amount of dirt that came out, well worth it. It looked like the doors had diarrhea haha! I wouldn't have done it if the car wasn't out in the sun on a hot day :zlove:

    Hi Ross

The bottom of the doors have drain vents along the base, on the inner side of the door. I just blasted a hose up them, expect a lot of crud to come out :)

I took the doorcards off today because race car!

I actually took them off so I can fit the Ganador mirrors when I get them back. If you haven't already guessed it, I also took the opportunity to give them a clean . Also stripped the drivers side door back further to have a better go at repairing the B pillar.

I already have new weather strips to install (I'll do that once the pillar is repaired) & also plan on replacing the B pillar interior trim (& clips) on both doors as they are not up to scratch (not that anyone else would ever notice). I have a curse of perfection, damn you!

    Mirrors...

Simmo are these ebay spec ganadors or the real deal?
I am having trobule deciding whether to shave the side indicator, and of course if I do, to keep it legal I will need a side mirror with an indicator. $49 from ebay for mirrors with an amber inidicator seems too good to be true. I bought some M3 style ones but they dont fit.

Looking forward to seeing these mirrors.

After reading this thread do you think he would fit imitation mirrors?

Dropped the car off at the panel beaters this morning to have the B-pillar fixed and resprayed. Was told it would be ready Thursday morning, but I'm not holding my breath.

Mirrors still haven't been painted, which is painful (as I still need to wire/solder the connectors up too). Was told they'd be ready early last week, so just playing the waiting game now.

I just hope they do a good job.

That's really ordinary, Jono. The past 2 times that i've sent my front bar in to get fixed I have it back the next day, usually in the afternoon.

They've got a lot of work on & insurance jobs get priority. I had to quickly call in again to drop a part off to him and he had already made a start on the pillar. It was obvious someone had attempted to fix it previously, but did a sh!thouse job! Fingers crossed it will be ready to be collected on Thursday morning (mirrors included).

I'm really not having much luck lately. I just picked the car up from the panel beaters & it all looked great at a quick glimpse before bringing it home and getting ready for work.

I just took a better look now and though the pillar looks great now, the door edge is out of shape & doesn't line up with the body anymore. That's not what has disappointed me most.

What has really pissed me off/disappointed me is that the entire front half of the car is covered in over spray!!! It has a thin mist of black all over it and is rough as guts to feel. This includes the brand new Xenon headlights I only installed recently.

So p!ssed off right now & another unwanted headache that needs resolving!!!

Time and time again I've found that so-called "professionals" can't do a proper job. How do you paint cars for a living and not be wary of over-spray? If you wanted bloody over-spray you would've done it yourself!
It just makes me mad. You pay them hundreds for their labor because they're supposed to be experience, and what do you get?

I know, I was so pissed off to find that the entire car is covered in over spray... top to bottom. The interior is covered in white sanding dust and finger prints. It's a shame because I just recently cleaned it all.

I rang the painter and explained the door and over spray issues. He has offered to come to my place next week with a buffer and polish the over spray off.

if it was only done in the last day or 2 you could get away with giving it with a light rub of thinners and polishing
