Yeah fair call. You're right. Wouldn't call it high horsing but you have a point. Issues like this with Abe have come up before though and there's no means to reasoning with him. Sometimes ya just got to join 'em, haha. And it's great for a laugh.

Anyway Im going to go sleep on this before I ruin my thread more. Hell of a week... you have no idea.

Going to agree with the above comment lads.

Keep this build thread a build thread, and take your problems and or indifferences to PM.

Genuinely interested parties of this thread don't need to be reading about irrelevant tiffs and slanderous comments.

    Thank you.

So I've been spending a lot of time working on the bay. I've dropped the front crossmember, sway bar and all the suspension off of the front end for access.

The frame rails, front rad support and strut towers are fully welded up of all holes and ground flat. The bay is fully seam welded and for the most part those welds are ground down. I have also cut out a considerable amount of metal that falls under the heading "this will take longer to smooth than replace". This is a super time consuming endeavor...

Welcome to my office. When I have the time (I haven't even been home all week), this is my home.

Clever keyboard ninjas will spot all the hoes in the strut towers etc where I've cut out fugly metal. My welding skills are coming along well.

Cookie (newz) dropped around for a sit rep and grabbed these happy snaps with his gun camera.

I also now have a full set of Modena faces hanging on the wall for my long term rebarreling project.

More news coming. Those keen on my discontinued JDM parts addiction are about to lose their shit...

a wise man once said "you can judge a high performance car by its brakes". I don't know who he was but I agree. while my previous 324mm rotor upgrade was all well and good for your average modified z32, with mu build going full retard I wanted to step up. came across a set of tommy kaira callipers on a malaysian second hand import parts website and just had to have them.

they are six piston per corner and weigh less than the standard Sumitomos. manufactured by Endless, these were released on the Tommy Kaira Legacy B4s of the late nineties. they may have come out on other cars but as google doesn't even know about the B4s I can't really find any more info.

one unfortunately came with cosmetic damage. looks like the previous owner either forgot to refit a wheel spacer or broke the wheel in a crash.

these even came with original tommy kaira pads which is pretty cool. i'll be swapping in some new project mu HC+ road/track pads.

no big. i'll smooth it out before they go in for copper powdercoat. I was never 100% happy with the old calliper colour (wanted candy teal and received candy turquoise) so this is a good change to rectify that.

seeing as there was no hope of these bolting straight up to my z32, it was obviously on the cards from day one to fabricate adapters. since i'm doing that I thought... may as well go big

I ordered these DBA 5000 series 355mm front rotors on clearance sale. these are designed for 370Z/G37 Skyline Akebonos. due to the two piece design my old RDA 324mm rotors are only 2kg lighter. I went slotted only as no drills = no cracks.

I haven't made the adapters yet but got them all on today for a test fit. miles of wheel clearance.

some might say this is a massive **** around and I could have simply bought some bolt on stoptechs or something... but I thrive off of this stuff. seriously part of what gets me out of bed in the morning.

with the fronts taken care of I really needed something for the rear... originally I was going to look out for some STi or GTR rear brembos, but well... any **** can have brembos :p

so I put up an ad to test the water and ended up picking up Mike's rear AP Racing big brake kit.

these came with StopTech two peice rear rotors, dogbones and braided lines. full bolt up kit which made things easier. they may not be "old school JDM cool", but being from the racing division of the world's biggest brake calliper manufacturer has its benefits.

the callipers are four piston and should mate up well (performance wise) to my new fronts.

as you can see in the background of the top AP photo, the TK's are currently split open for a reco and recoat. both sets of callipers are getting a seal kit put through them then going in for matching powder.

You'll need them to stop in a hurry for all those small dips, speed. Pumps and pebbles ;p haha

Looks great though good finds and that's a serious brake set up? To to take wizards stab at me lately and throw it to you?

Am I seeing you at Wakefield?

Looks don't always match function. I think I know why the rotors are on special, they are quite large and non floating and to make it worse they not curved vane. sort of OK for road use but not for the track. They will run hot, mainly at the track, distort and warp and you will get run out (pulsing peddle) and worse still is knock off. When the rotor warps and hits the pad and pushes the pad back, and you hit the brakes and they don't work. Not fun. This issue is amplified the larger the rotor gets.

your car can "look" like a performance car but whether it puts times on the board is another thing. everything else is heresay :D

Keep up the good work. hopefully it will be drivable soon as that will give you new inspiration to get it finished.

sarcasm deducted this car will be seeing track time, i'll wait to make my own mind up on the brakes. 'til then, I'll leave my confidence in the faithful hands of Endless and DBA

DBA are Not suitable for track use they make road car rotors. I am pretty sure you can get proper motorsport rotors in that size.

The callipers don't look like they have done much track use, as they don't appear to be discoloured from heat. When they get over heated the cast alloy body fatigues and they flex more as they are weakened. Although the ground down one could be a concern. It may flex a bit more, or worse, crack and leak when you really don't want it to when you jam on the brakes, like turn two at SMP.

Enough of this thread smack talk,....This is friggin hard work! We are at the same stage....How bout we Race On Boy!
Lets see who closes in on with their Topcoat first.
.....I'll be a shaking it like a Polaroid sweety!

.....Any ideas on relocating the Throttle cable ?
I'm wanting to fill and smooth the hole in the Left (cable entry point) corner of the Firewall.
Give the pedal a Mod and..... re-run the cable through the factory firewall hole that's located 3 inches below the Steering shaft knuckle.
    Bad length ?

    .....Shake dat ass.

No joke about the hard work. Get on it, I've spent all my time so far welding and grinding. I haven't moved the throttle cable yet.

Judging by the amount of bog on your firewall, you're going to be done well before me :p
