    And the gloves are off.......

Been super lazy. You'll be getting a package soon, coz you'll need it. Throwing in something else.

Really not rocket science to build a motor mate so you'll be right. Read a couple of engine building books and you will know more than most :)

    Books.

    Sucks about all drama

About time somebody came out and spoke the truth, I thought Robs motor was leaned out on a dyno tune?

They built my old motor right, that's for sure :)

Would of been nice if they checked the block first...

Well I wonder how long this news will stay here before a new shit fight breaks out.

If the evidence is abundant anti, go with your gut feeling. Get it done else where. Sometimes you have to loose some money before you can reap the rewards.

Keep pluggin away at it mate!

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

Thanks guys. The decision has been made, I know who'll be doing the work.

In other news, I bought a basic mig and have spent much of the last two weeks welding up my engine bay.

In related news, smoothing an engine bay bloody sucks arse.

More than likely because Ben built your old motor and he knows his shit.

Firstly, when your car was on our dyno, it had barely any advanced ignition timing (especially compared to other cars) and the air fuel ratio was good.

It was obviously a tired old motor, and couldn't handle the boost, we did not pull the engine apart, or do any diagnosis. May just have had a lazy injector, or pistons were just soft or.... You were out of work at the time and so to help you out I said I would supply you a good used donor bottom end which I did, and I would rebuild it for free, which I thought was very generous. To then you wanting to get it built at another workshop and me pay for it, even half of it is asking a bit much.

As far as Rob C.'s engine goes, piston bore clearance second time was fine, bearing clearances were not ideal, so we sent it back and had it line bored. The machine shop did this under warranty.

For those who don't know I owned this Zed before Anti and actually did the engine swap on it while in my possession. I sourced, tested and serviced the engine that was in the car and would stake my reputation on it not being tired. I spent good money on a good engine, and it had previously been rebuilt. Also paid to have the injectors and rails sonic cleaned before fitting to the car. So I find it strange that you think the engine was at fault even though your mechanic was using unconventional tuning methods.

Not unconventional tuning -not a lot of guys use knock ears because the factory sensor is far more sensitive. Better again to tune with a second pair of ears if you have that option. My car wasn't tuned using knock ears when it left UAS, nor was Trent's, Procky's, slot car, Justin's....

Shit happens when you push the limit.

18psi is pushing the limit on a stock motor.

    Especially without compression testing it.

Especially when your piggyback ECU uses a 14.7 psi map sensor.

Especially when the knock sensor has been bypassed and the tuner doesn't know.

I've tried to stay out of this but since opinions are being offered yes there are things that UAS could have done better. Had Martin been treated like a walk in rather than a friend and employee it might have gone down a little different.

John wasn't obliged to offer Martin a rebuild but he did for reasons best known to himself. He certainly wasn't obliged to cover the costs of rebuilding it elsewhere and I don't think Martin genuinely expected that.

Spreading rumours in a deliberate attempt to damage John's business is extremely poor form. Doubly so when it concerns another customers car, triply so when some of the information was gained in the context of an employee at UAS.

Also Ryan for what it's worth at least two injectors had been removed and refit after you passed on the car. I'll bet they weren't pressed in and out on a bench and I'll go double or nothing that the rail wasn't pressure tested after reassembly.

This may have nothing or everything to do with it. Probably nothing but just raising it to clarify your point. A quick look at the upper plenum would confirm of the cylinder that failed was the one that had the injector removed and refit.

I love one sided stories that eventually turn into two sided stories. They always turn into a good read.

Not to directly step in or take a side. As rob has said, a few large engines have came out from UAS and been fine. A engine build is never a guarantee.
Any issues that sat with my car despite what some of you said was probably more me rushing to get it back.

My zed went to MRC not because I don't think UAS couldn't tune but because marks new dyno has more sensory equipment so I thought could be of benifit to really iron out a pin point tune for the car and to give me a comparison.

I since went back to john end of last year and pulled 400rwkw @20psi (397.5)

Going on a branch IF John was directly at fault he attempted to do the right thing. Most workshops probably wouldn't go that far.

Again not taking a side and I know it's a sucky position anti was in, I just don't want people jumping on the "bad workshop" boat when it's not a truthful account.

The truth lies somewhere between UAS and Anti, not a single side and the bull shit provided inbetween from 3rd party

Interested to know more about what you mean exactly

Not taking any sides either but when Toshi road tuned my car he had the stock det sensor and his own det sensor he fit to the plenum on screen plus head phones.

I just figured it was the norm.. Everyone does things differently I guess.

When you dont get a reading from a factory fit det sensor during a dyno tune, do alarm bells go off??

although it bites hard that this happen I totally agree with what was said here. When pushing a car "shit happens" especially with the tuning system was used and stock motor.

with so many variables it only takes one slight little thing and your done.

I love this car btw and cant wait to see it finished :D

For my own future reference I'd like to know if the signal from a 14.7 psi map sensor bottoms out after it reaches 14.7 psi, or does it behave eradically?

Soughta gotta scratch your head if boost is increasing but AFM readings arnt..

    a) your build just keeps impressing me anti. Im loving watching this thing come together, and it keeps my motivated on my far less spectacular and much slower moving build. Keep it up cos this zed will be a standard others are judged against.

    b) This thread is sitting on the edge of an engine building he said she said shitstorm. For the sake of saving what is probably the best and most comprehensive build thread for a z32 in the last decade can we keep the finger pointing to a minimum?

Your arrogance and sense of self entitlement mate never ceases to amaze me Theo. I distinctly recalling you rubbishing to me and others the guy I brought to this forum Toshi who has done an amazing job on so many ppl's cars only to tell me how UAS was the only place to go and the car goes pop.... you can only imagine my giggles.

Your a bit of a chancer from what I can see and it seems John has tried to help you here and you throw it out there without mentioning at least what he offered. Very one sided poor form

If I recall last we saw one another you tried it on with me asking for me to open the boot to show me something and I go to lift it and your 3rd brake light that was stuck on anti-spec with what appeared to be blue tack in the centre only snapped. Then you proceed to tell me I must buy you a NEW one from nissan... when yours looked older than methuselah's first nappy that was scratched and in poor condition. No way will i buy you anything when 1) you try to take advantage straight away 2) you ask me to open the boot in the dark no knowing anti-spec engineering was at its finest on the panel and 3) They way you spoke to me and my friend that night for no reason was appaling, your lucky you didnt get dropped mate.

Rant over. This needed to be said!
