Well here`s some thing to smile and laugh at , in the post`s we have said that sometime in the build of the car a small bolt as found its way into the intake piping to the pass side turbo , so instead of looking like this.. [IMG][/IMG] WE found this .. the bolt in the pic is not the one that did the damage { it`s already been tossed in the bin and gone to the dump . sorry. } but same size , [IMG][/IMG] [IMG][/IMG] Apart from when the LPG gas computer got tuned and that was early on and it was making 13psi on that day, we were not trying to run the car hard because of other small problems and by the time we were happy thing`s were working like they should and we started to try putting the boot in and there was no kick in the ass at all and struggle to make 5 to 6 psi and an out of balance sound for the pass side , time to pull things apart and see what`s going on ...

    Awesome job with the build!

Maybe I should have convinced the mainline owner to go with Z32 parts ha ha!

    Wow

That is just fantastic... Would really love to see this in person... Ever considered driving down to Melb?? lol

So how does it drive?? And what power is the engine making?? Not that thats important, but I would assume thats a fair bit of weight that the VG30DETT has to push...

    But yeah, fantastic...

Thank you , Mate it rides and handles really good , and yes about 300 kg heavier than the ZX but it was never going to be a race car it`s a cruiser but that said it`s not at all a slow car , Power ???? don`t know good stock TT motor full 3" exhaust apart from the 4 reverse flow mufflers to get it quite for ADR and 13 psi on lpg and do not know if its chipped or not but some one has been in the computer .. so it`s not out there but better than stock .. Well I had the pleasure to not only see this thing on the weekend but also go for a ride in it and I've got to say the pictures really don't do it justice. It really does look even better in real life. While it was parked on the street in front of my house we had 2 different people come up to look at it after seeing it from down the road. The amount of work that's gone in to it is phenomenal and it's quite eerie looking at it take off while sounding like a 300zx.

It was great meeting two new local '300zx owners' who have put so much work into their car.
Full cruise thread is up in post event discussion.

hey how do other hotrodders think of it, being zed powered rather than detroit V8s
I just think it is cool, and the amount of work done fantastic, but you didnt answer the painting question looks very professional

Thanks Mate , all the hot rodders and custom guys that know the car from Rocky to the sunshine coast think it`s just great it`s not been to a hot rod run yet but a lot of guy`s have been following the build , the paint i did all the body work and into primer got a young painter in rocky to do the main purple because it has pearl in it and because of the size of the car i didn`t want to stuff that up i`d had a bit of trouble with the dark color on my willys when i painted it thats got pearl in it too , so he did that for me and i did all the rest but it was not an over night job , and the inside of the car we got a pro to do the front and back seats and i did the rest .... OK here`s the parts of the LPG system and what little info that i know ..
First off these are the injectors and they can sit at any angle , we have them angled because of looks and ease of pipe fitting but they can be lay`d flat , the brass block in the front hose going to the injectors is the gas temperature sensor .
The hose`s that run from the injectors to the inlet fittings all have to be the same length and as short as practical , so the middle one has to do a bit of a loop to use up its length because of its short trip to the inlet fitting .
Because this is car is 100% LPG the best place for our inlet fittings are were the fuel injectors used to be , now i have been told that on a non turbo motor the angle of the inlet fittings is not a big problem but on a turbo motor its very important if they are not angled right when you got on boost it will push the gas back up the tube to the injectors NOT GOOD now seeing as on our motors were the injectors are , are designed to siphon fuel into the valves on boost it works the same for Gas so why change it ..
    SO what we did was tap a M12 x 1.25 thread into the manifold were the { red arrows } shows , you do not want the bolt screwing past the top of the little inlet hole { yellow arrow} { This manifold is just a spare i have in the shed }
ALL right here`s a ruff little drawing for you`s , the nipple is what you get in the kit and this is all you would use if you were just taping the inlet manifold normally .. Now like i said before we taped the manifold to take this bolt , it gets cut down to about 15mm long then drill a hole in the middle of it and tap it down just enough so the nipple screws in tight and leave the rest of the hole smooth ..SO when you use thread sealant when you put it all together it has to be a gas compatible one ..
Here you can see the 2 gas filters and the gas regulator / vaporizer behind them . this is the one part of the system that i think would be hard to find room for in the normal zx engine bay ..
The little black box on the fire wall is the gas pressure sensor
    [IMG]
The gas computer i mounted under the glove box , it has wires that splice in to the fuel injector wires in the engine bay and one wire for RPM signal we spliced into the one in the wiring to the zx computer .
And of course the gas filler , we mounted a nice cover on to the boring plastic cap ..
This little unit inside is normally used to change from fuel to gas in a duel fuel system , we press and hold when cranking for straight gas start it`s also our gauge for how much gas we have left .. The only other thing`s in the system is the gas tank and plumbing from it to the Gas regulator / vaporizer in the engine bay ... Hope this has enlightening . Lloyd

Ok every body its been a while since our last up date so this is what we been up too . A little time after the beach run with the rocky crew the car started to smoke a bit so did a compression test on the motor and got 180 , 175 ,175 , 175 ,160 and 100 didn`t like the 100 put a little oil in the pot got 160 damn something wrong with rings , the only thing we had done on the motor be for was new water pump , timing belt and pulley`s and tensioner , so we pulled the motor out and striped it down to make sure we didn`t have broken ring`s or damaged bore or anything making damage and found everything intact and nothing really out of sort`s at all apart from the bore`s looking a bit glazed , well i thought it`s all apart so mite as well give it a birthday so ordered parts from the usa , gave it a quick hone new rings , bearings , gasket kit , head bolts , welsh plugs , valve stem seals and motor mounts and nailed it back together again .. Now while the motor was out i took the pan off our auto box and pulled the filter out for a clean and see if anything was in it at all and found this stuff .
so off to see our friend at the auto shop turn`s out to be bit`s from an nylon bush and better bring the box in to see if we have been lucky and got it in time or not, big $$ or little $$ , turn`s out we were lucky so the motor and box have had a freshen up and all good,
The other thing we have been playing with is getting it to run cooler , it was good at night but spent most of it`s time near 200 during the day so we put in a new big 3 core aluminium radiator ,
    [IMG]
It took longer to get hot but still ended around 200 , so i thought lets stop the auto trans going through the radiator and the extra cooler in front of the radiator and put a big 10.5 " by 12.5 " remote cooler with it`s own fan away from the radiator altogether and see what happens .
We don`t have a heat problem any more 175 at night 180 to 185 in the day really good , i had to move the radiator over flow bottle so i could mount the new cooler ,
    [IMG]
OK now on the subject of running on LPG some one asked me what octane auto LPG had and i didn`t know so put it in the internet search and that opened up a big can of worm`s but what i got out of it was the worst your ever likely to get is 95 octane and all the way to 110 octane but mostly some where in the middle ..
We had our first big trip to the gold coast start of May to Garterbelts and Gasoline rod and custom run and learned how good it was on gas , our first top up and check was after 353 k`s and there was 24 stop and go road works in that so a lot of stopping and siting and we had used 35 lit`s of LPG the tank holds 61 lit , Terry worked out for the whole trip down and back we had gone 1475 k`s and used 167 lit`d of Gas , and gas from 68 cents to 99 cents we like LPG...
Now at Garterbelts and Gasoline the car seemed to be good for camera men doing pin up photo`s ..

We can answer now better what other hotrodders and custom guys and the everyday punters have thought of the car seeing as we have been to a couple of runs now and the reaction to the car has been really really good if there has been any negative`s we have not heard or seen any , mostly wide eyed big smiles and this thing is off the hook type sayings even if they know of it`s z32 DNA or not and when you open the hood it`s holy s#*t even when people don`t know what the motor is but it`s not what they are expecting and when they ask i say it a Nissan 3 liter V6 and they have that look of okkkkk and then i say the magic words twin turbo running on LPG and you get the look of Damn this thing would move quick look , it`s pure gold .. we tell every one it 85 to 90% 1990 nissan 300zx that looks like a 49 Mercury and then the people who own or have had z32`s see the wheel rim`s first and they think that`s got z rims whats going on here and then see all the rest and they just start smiling ...All good all around .
