    Direction changed once again!

Acquired some 480cc S15 injectors and have decided to pull the plenum back off, replace lower plenum with S2, change rail to suit.

Busy weekend ahead as spacers to be installed back into tailshaft carrier (I forgot about these), and the injector install as well as fix a power steering leak.

Then off to the tuners on Tuesday!

Pics and engine bay shots to follow :)

Busy weekend once again. Gotta get this thing finished for the tune Tuesday!

Didn't realize changing the lower plenum was such a bitch! - Timing belt has to come off since the upper pulley is attached lol. I shoulda know this :p So front timing covers, water hard pipes, timing belt, pulley and lower plenum had to come off :/ Also found out the heads are series 1 and not series 2 (still have series 2 cam gears) but... still have some evidence of porting etc so not a total loss :)

Anyways, installed the 480cc injectors, S2 connectors, dual intake, series 2 lower plenum, series 2 rail, chrome balance tube, polished iacv pipe started her up, runs like a dream! But!!! The thermostat hasnt seated properly and its leaking from the lower hard pipe! AAArrrrggghhh.... Rad back out, fan off, hard pipes off, re-seat thermostat, clean up and re-glue.

Ready to go. Now just attacking the ps leak and chucking the centre bearing spacers back in! Almost there. Can't wait for the tune! :D

Been a little while since an update. Been sorting a few gremlins and it's been at the shop getting tuned...

Final engine/performance mod list as follows:

Rebuilt S1 engine, auto cams with S2 cam gears
High flow T28/T28 spec turbos in manual housings
444/480CC S15 Injectors in series 2 rail and lower plenum
    AMS manifolds - port matched
    ToyZ 3" Expansion dumps
    Full custom 3" exhaust
    GFB UDP + ODP
Single AFM + Intake (As the true dual posed problems without the selin translator)
    NA Rear End
    Shift Kit
    Hi-Stall/More Stall

Final power figure 383.5rwhp at 18psi. Not bad at all! :D Breaks traction at 90kph too with the na rear end. Scary but fun :) Injectors maxxed out at the moment with extra fuel pressure for safety margin but they have done remarkably well!

    Hiccups!

Since installing the old thermostat, an unknown fan clutch and an untested radiator, a few cooling issues have reared their ugly heads... Temp sensor sitting at 3/4 temp at cruise speed.

    Still to tackle:

Thermostat (If need be... It'll be replaced regardless to eliminate it as the issue)
Fan Clutch (Once again, may as well replace it while I'm there!)
Radiator (Possible suspect but I hope not...)
Water pump (Last resort and sure its good, but I'd still feel better knowing its 100%)

The above list is keeping me from the strip and I wanna knock em all off as soon as possible. Something tells me another coz order is on the cards and soon!

AFR graph will follow if anyones keen!

Hey Brocky... Na, it's just a stock one at the moment... Hitting around 100 degrees :/

Have you actually tested the water temp with the diagnostic thing and why dont you put those 75mm wide $200 alum radiator never have a prob any more

Yeah checked the temps in Conzult. Also the tuner mentioned it was getting to 95-100 degrees on cruising runs... Somethings not right there. Surprisingly even on high boost runs it wasnt geting all that much hotter.

I have a PWR twin pass radiator but hoping its not that... *Fingers crossed*

I'll replace the Fan clutch with a spare I have here, I have a Nismo thermostat here also I'll chuck back in, Gonna order a new waterpump as they are pretty cheap. Might pull off the UDP and ODP also and go back to stock.

Figure I might as well tackle everything while I have the radiator out and the front of the engine exposed.

If after replacing all that gear it still gets hot, I'll take a good look at the radiator!

Looking like another busy weekend :p

Yeah dude! Stock one is as good as urs. I'll be replacing all the other gear first as I doubt its my radiator. :)

    Water Pump ordered
    Radiator sourced
Fan clutch found, ready to go
Stock balancer and water pump pulley ready to go
Nismo Thermostat temp checked and ready
    Deatschwerks 740cc Injectors ordered

Just need a selin translator thing, install all the above, and take her back in for another tune :p

Very slow progress report at the moment... Turns out that the Selin translators are still on backorder. :(

    New water pump installed
    Nismo Thermostat installed
    Picked up new radiator
    Picked up new fan clutch
    Picked up FMIC undertray

On the plus side, Vader has finished re-trimming my interior! Looks like I'll be installing that while I'm waiting for the injectors and selin translator to arrive.

Before and after pics to come soon! Also, some interior plastics rattle reduction applications and how to! :D

    Who'd you order from?

I put my order in for one this week and Coz just sent me a message last night saying its on its way with a tracking number.

And what do you mean it only cost $130... did you only just buy the unit itself?... It's listed for like $260 on Coz...

Ordered from AMS, but they are coming from Z1 I think?

Grrrrr.... So Coz has them in stock? Spewing! My car has been in bits just waiting for the new parts to arrive... Hmmmm... I'm getting an ETA on Monday hopefully.

I didnt pay $130, that was just the intake kit without the translator. I assumed you could run 1 afm and just halve the k-value but its not the case hence the translator purchase. So don't worry dude! Ur not gettin ripped off :p

Regarding the translator tho, I was wondering why you couldnt just solder two afm connectors together and put a voltage divider on the signal wire going back to the ecu as per below:

    http://tle.tafevc.com.au/toolbox/fi...energy_in_the_workplace/html/divider_law.html

I could be totally off track here but I'll post this up on the Z related technical section...

  18. Anti

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

What benefits to FMIC undertrays have?

  19. MoulaZX

    MoulaZX #TEAMROB

Same reason you install SMIC ducts for SMICs... To force the air to run through the Intercooler instead of hit the FMIC / SMIC and a majority of air blow around it.

And depending on the type of Undertray can also help with Aerodynamics / Downforce however you want to put it.

  20. Anti

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

I thought the undertrays bolted to the underside of the FMIC and went back towards the engine?

Why not just use factory undertray?
