Haha, yeah only just happened. Had to drop the motor last night to 'adjust' the dump pipe as it was hitting the steering shaft thing. Also modded the LS1 engine mounts a bit so they go in easier and sit better.

It does sound a bit weird, gets a pop every so often at idle through it but is still reasonably smooth. Can't really say until it gets the exhaust and the idle set properly. I'll have to dial in a heap of overlap and do some phat laps around Ippy with Eric lol!

Well I've been pretty slack with piccies and whatnot lately. Got a bit done.

    Piccy of the engine in.

Drove outside under it's own power :D

Quick vid of it running. Doesn't like to idle too much. Not sure if I got the all that crap on the back of the plenum wired up properly. VG's have three times the idle control crap on them compared to most cars  Anywho, sounds tuff (in person anyway, iphone vids are pretty crap :p)

Since those piccies I have installed the FPR properly, made some quick and nasty brackets for the intercoolers and put the standard bonnet back on.

Got it booked in for a tow to Exotic Exhaust to do the exhaust. Going with 3" mandrel bent stainless from the dumps to the cats, then 2.5" the rest of the way reusing my old Magnaflow cats, centre muffler and rear mufflers.

Then going to Eric at A2Zed for final check over and RWC then rego and driving time :D

Still got a NA fuel pump in it, so will have to sort that out soon. Thinking bodging up one of my 044's to fit in the tank. Also have the boost controller to install.

How much boost can you run on an n/a pump? Is 9-12psi safe.. just as a temporary solution?

Werent for safety, you able to bypass the fpcu and have the pump run a constant 12v at full line pressure. Resulting in adequate line pressure to support a stock-modest tt engine?

Else wise spend $120 and put in a 040 pump. Bit of a fiddle to fit but at least its done then.

Bit of both I think. It was a tune Eric chucked on a chip to just get me going. Will try and get Nistune running on it today and have a fiddle.

Dunno, I plan on changing it before it sees any real boost. I have a assortment of pumps at home to play with :p

Bypassing the FPCU will help, but I'm not risking it, don't want to blow it up just yet:p

Just installed Solid Adjustable Inlet Gears on mine (got really sick of the VTC rattle) ... lowest I can get to idle is 1000rpm with cams @ +10 degrees

So if you have set your cam gears in the advanced position maybe your idle is set too low ???

  13. Chrispy

    Chrispy Pretentious Upstart

Nah, they are set at 0 deg for now.

What cams are they? eg; TOMIE have different spec'd inlet cams for use with the factory gears or adjustable gears the adjustable spec'd cams open 5 degrees earlier (with the gears set to zero) than the factory gear spec'd cams so if you'res are a similar setup the cams could still be too far advanced to idle at factory speed??

Ivan Tighe grinds on new blanks. The inlet and exhaust cams seem to be practically the same looking at the cam sheet. Pretty sure it's just something stupid like a IACV valve hooked up wrong or injector latency or something like that.

She's going to be a beauty when your finished.
It's great watching what you experts get up to. An inspiration.
Thanks for sharing it with us.

You with a Zed that moves under it's own power?

    That's a bit novel. :D

Sounds like latency is wrong or a vac leak, did you get nistune fitted so I can have a play when it gets here?

Found two vac leaks and fixed them, idles better now.

Tired to put in my Nistune board, but Conzult would not connect. Guess I was right about the base map needing to be changed :( It's got the 4 wire plug soldered in now though. Easy to put another board in.

I don't understand why it won't connect? I had to play around with my port settings to get mine to work when changing from the eprom chip from Karl to nistune to get nistune or conzult to connect, are you sure its not this?
