Guards are easy enough to remove whenever you want to install them ;)

Hard to put a number on it at this stage as its really up to DHL and customs. As soon as they land, you'll know!

Hey Rob, can those of us that aren't picking up start paying the extra $20 and postage?

What did postage come to for Sydney?

Hi, I won't know how much postage to charge until I get them in my hands and see how they need to be packaged etc. As soon as I get them I will send you all an updated total

    Update again

OK delivery update first: Hopefully coming tomorrow... apparently as I'm out of the Sydney metro area the "same day despatch" turns into three days despatch. As soon as they are here you will know...

Unfortunately the price has gone up again too. I asked for the sender to make appropriate valuations on postage and customs paperwork, for obvious reasons. When the parcel was received by DHL the declared value 113,321JPY was deemed to be over $1000 (I suspect due to a declining exchange rate) which triggered GST and customs duty. Now when a shipment comes GST and duty are triggered by the value of the consignment being in excess of $1000AUD, however GST is calculated on the value of the consignment plus the value of shipping.

Long story short there were additional charges

    Duty: $71.54
    GST: $260.13
    Govt' Charges: $55.20
    Disbursment Fee: $16.50

    Total: $403.37 split twenty ways.

While I am extremely sorry for the increase in charges there is nothing more that I could have done to prevent it and unfortunately I have no grounds on which to dispute the charges. Being a group buy I am getting my braces at the same price as the other 19 participants so there is nothing I can do to absorb the additional costs. This is the first of some 41 group buys (excluding oz300 and the old aus300 format) that I have run where the price has increased since taking payments and while I'm not happy about it I can honestly say that I couldn't have done more to avoid it. I have already paid the fees on a "good faith" basis but there is going to be a total of $38.78 plus shipping owing on each order. This includes the previous price rise.

As soon as they are here (and again I have been promised Wednesday, then Thursday, then Monday so here's hoping!) I can calculate a shipping total and we can get this tidied up.

Not having a go at you, but these $250 braces have almost turned into $350 braces...

Sigh, guess we'll just have to suck it up and pay.

$288 is still far enough from $350 for my liking...! But yeah I understand your frustration.

Looks like they weigh 3kg or less (total boxed weight is about 60kg) so I'm hoping I can send cheap through prepaid satchel.

    Still waiting on DHL.

All of the customs/govt charges were settled early last week and the package should have been delivered Wednesday.

Then they told me that as I'm out of the metro area it would be going to couriers please, then to me and I should have it by Friday or Monday at the latest.

Monday I called DHL to see where it was and they told me that because the package weighs in at 65kg Couriers Please had sent it back and that it would be coming by Toll on Wednesday at the latest.

Just got off the phone with DHL again and it has only JUST left the DHL depot, so it still needs to get to the Toll facility and organised for redlivery from there.

At this stage I should have it Monday at the latest.

    I'm over it already...

    Got braces??

Thoroughly impressed with Toll who got these out to me TODAY rather than the two to three day turnaround that DHL had told me to expect. I have to say DHL's customer service reps have been very helpful, it just seems to be their logistics department that are incompetent...

Anyone wanting to pickup please PM me. Otherwise stay tuned, I didn't get them early enough to get to the post office today but will endeavour to price postage tomorrow. I have my car booked for a new alarm tomorrow so just depends how long that takes.

    Stay tuned!
