Got the bonnet and front bar back, so I had to quickly throw them on to see how it looks :D

Front bar only has 4 bolts in it at the moment, that why it sits to poorly. Bonnet is sitting up a bit on the pass side, not sure what the go is there, could be a touch bent. I've got some aero catches if it comes to that... And I had to remove the nose panel lower rubber thing to get it to fit in, will need some minor mods to make it fit well.

    +1

They look very good - I can't wait to see it fitted to the car.

Edit: I responded above before I saw the picture fitted on the car...lol. Looks great!

Yeah, I expect a few people won't like the bonnet, but I quite like it. Best thing about it is it's ally, so legal :D

Yeah, I'm super happy with how they turned out, credit to Al for that, done very neatly and came out a lot better than I expected :D Bar doesn't fit 100%, but that is to be expected when it's been fitted to another Zed. I'd say it's about 90% which I can live with

So thanks again to Al (ztoy), very happy with his work and it saved me a lot of headaches :D

Oh cool, so all the factory braces are still in the same locations under the bonnet? will you need a mod plate for it? or is the change so minor that it wont need it?

The major braces haven't been touched, only a little pissy one which I intent to put back with some mods to extend it.

There is no mod code for bonnet mods, only a Code of Practice which we have followed. Pretty much states that you can cut the bracing as long as 'suitable bracing is used', the whole sphere of a certain diameter test and the 10mm radii on leading edges and 5mm everywhere else. Bulge/scoop has to be the same material as the original bonnet too.

I meet all those requirements (well I will when the bracing is put back on :p)

Nice finish on the paint job, what type of paint was used?

Also with the bonnet sticking up on one side i've seen alot of this from when people unknowingly jack their car up from the radiator support. It lifts it up and knocks the bonnet out of alignment. I'm guilty as I did it to mine when I first got it

Apparently you can get up and stand on the top part of the support and using your body weight force it back down a bit, or alternatively there is another similar method but is more involved. There was a thread about it last year sometime I believe.

I had a go jumping on mine and it helped somewhat, but needs to be done more once my engine goes back in.

Once again, excellent work all round guys :)

Two pack paint I'm pretty sure, Al will probably chime in with more details :)

The bonnet is sitting up, I'm not sure if it's hitting something or if the bonnet is bent. The car had been jacked up before and the old bonnet sat proud. I 'adjusted' it with a sledge hammer and it fit a lot better. I'm going to have a play later with it.

LOL genius, I think I'm gonna have a go at that now. My rad support is slightly bent on the driver's side.

and Chrispy that is coming to be one sexy Z

Put a 14" thermofan on the front of the rad today and wired it into the stock aux fan wiring. I've wired it to come on whenever the car is on for the meantime, I will make the ecu control it later. I'll see how warm it gets idling tomorrow  It blows a bit of air, but I'm worried it won't be enough. It hasn't got the air con condenser and whatnot to suck through either, so it might be ok... We'll see.

I've chucked in the new ECU and consult connects. I've also added a heap of earth wires all over the engine just incase that was the issue. Fingers crossed I don't fry this one...

Why doesn't it have number plates yet? Hurry up already.

    Yeah, yeah... Getting there...

Had a play with the thermo this morning. Let it idle with the thermo running and it didn't get over 80deg, which is what the water pump is set to.

I disconnected the fan and the temps rose pretty quickly to 93, then I put it back on and they dropped back to 80. Could have been quicker though.

We'll see how it goes when driving around. Shall go and get some ally to make some air guides up to suit the front bar.

I have to lower the crossmember 10-12mm to clear the bonnet, the intake elbow touches a bit and hold the bonnet up :( Have to get some longer bolts for the crossmember, but the two bolt shops near me have closed down :( Guess I have to go for a drive...

Also need a different clutch line, mine hits the extractor and I have no way or re-routing it unless I get a longer one. But that's no biggy :)

Bypassed all the oil cooler, thermostat valve and accusump yesterday to see if that was causing my oil pressure issues. I just put the filter straight onto the tree. It worked good :) It can now sustain 90psi+ :D

Went for a quick spin around the block to see how it went, the intake is louder than the exhaust  It really roars! I still have to fix the knock sensor fault and put the nistune board into my new ECU so I can get rid of the auto gearbox fault and the EGT fault as it's a California ECU.

So other than that it's all going well. Have to finish off the radiator lower air guide and some other stuff, but other than that it's practically done :D

It needs a wheel alignment bad too, I think I will give it a go using string and a spirit level...

If I can do it that way it should be pretty damn easy for you.

Haha, we'll see... I have adjustable everything so that will make it interesting, and probably fiddly, specially on the back.
