i could have looked at an alternative or kept the money somewhere useful with this kind of delay...

 

Status update?????

19th of Feb was the promise date so its not 2 months yet. Its hard to organise group buys like these and generally from my experience chinese manufacturers don't want to take an order under 1000 units for anything and if they do its very low priority.

So I appreciate overseas manufacturing and shipping can sometimes be a real pain, and delays should be expected. however it would be good to know what the exact status is.

Are they still being Manufactured? if so whats the ETA?
Are they on on a ship? if so when will it reach our shores?
Are they in customs? if so when will it clear?
If there are problems is there something someone on the forum can do to help?

items receipt date for buyers was given as Jan. 19.

There was a correction indicating a typo which changed the date to 19th Jan, he made an effort to let us know so you can't criticise him about it. Its also a pretty obvious mistake as 7 days to maufacture and ship 25 intercoolers from china is a bit hard to believe.

I am in the same situation as you so I would like to know where the SMICS are.

Keep in mind..

This isn't the first group buy that James has arranged and he has pulled through on the others. so I'm sure whatever delays are genuine and out of his control. However; yes I do agree that some more informaive updates are now needed.

You might want to be careful giving too much of a hard time as I wouldn't want this to be the last group buy he arranges nor put off anyone else reading this thread from arranging future group buys. especially because he is not a business.

Keep in mind that many group buys are delayed or have some kind of issue, especially on a first run. They are genearally run by an enthusiast willing to help out rather than a business that has full time staff to keep on top of things.

James - in your own defense please give us an update of the situation

has there been any communication with the manufacturer?

any info from the shipper?

The GB that just went down on TT.net for Z1 smic's included lots of info from the organizer, posts from RussellZ1 (the seller). the whole process was very transparent. confidence is high that the sale will be straight - even if delivery is delayed - which it probably will be too.

I can understand that you might eb nervious, but as stated above this is not the first gb he has run and hence running off with cash is most likely not his intention, especially considering there has been larger gbs in the past run by him for front mounts.

Now we are all not overjoyed by the length, but mate Im sure he is doing his absolute best to get the product into our greedy little hands...

He is not doing the run for mexico that might happen in the states...:zlove:

SMIC Comparison

I couldn't opt for this GB since the shipping back to me would have been too prohibitive. Although I did find something a little more cost effective and closer to home but no where near the mass of these GB one's. I figure they may accept $300 on the best offer bid. Would you say these are about middle of the road between this GB one and oem? Sorry for the thread jack.

they're fairly small for an upgrade but if you're not looking for much more than 400 rwhp they may be ok.
