I'm a bit slow to see this; I thought I'd add my 2c worth regarding hp increase on the dyno - with stock smic's (and espeically with increased boost levels), you'll get the biggest hp reading on the first run - after that heat soak becomes an issue and you see less and less hp after every run. Having bigger SMIC's will reduce the heat soak however will not eliminate it.

The biggest gain would be felt on the street in real world situations where there is much more airflow flowing through the coolers. The intake temps would be much lower and is where you'll find the bigger SMIC's working effectively.

 

No extra clamps or hoses are needed to fit these coolers. They fit straight onto the stock hoses.

i'm in,decided to go side mounts because after looking at the fmic i think it will block too much air into the radiator

Well I have the feeling that if certain requested info was provided ie dressure drop figures, we should see a few more people make up their minds. I know I will, it is a definate deal breaker or deal maker for me.

Thanks, very informative link. However it still has me confused on wheather these intercoolers are good or not. Info on link suggests that they will cool air well and have a structurally strong design, but the "tall" design will cause turbulance and possible pressure drop. I guess they have to be better than the small 15 year old stockies?

 

Nothing wrong

with these intercoolers, if you have a small pressure drop just turn up the volume. Free flowing smic without turbulence, id like to see that. The question is where are the cores made, only two companies in oz make intercoolers. O/S (china) made intercoolers can be very good or shithouse. JaMeSz007 has this info, and should have the flow figures. I have exactly the same size cores on my smic and have the data to go with them, they cost 500 each and are made in oz, be interesting to see the test results.
