Had a great time. Good to catch up with everyone and have a nice cruise, and a blast through some twisties! Some nice fly-bys by BADXTC! That thing goes! Will go through the photo's etc and if there's anything I can add to the above will post them. Simon.
MOUNT TARRENGOWER at Maldon, 570 metres up. Arriving at the top and parking near the fire spotting tower - Sean, barefoot and doing a rain dance I think? In the foreground, new member boltzx's tidy white Zed - Flash's tidy red Zed - Cannons yo TWIN TERROR digging out some parts for Flash. bRACKET's stancemobile. We were on some fairly twisty and bumpy roads for parts of the cruise, a real test of Dean's fitment. Kudos mate. We left Mount Tarrengower just before 2.30, some members headed home while the rest of us went and cruised another mountain
The Photo's look fantastic. Its been sometime since I was on the forum - I'm devastated I missed this cruise but not to worry.
MOUNT ALEXANDER, final stage. The route up and over via Joseph Young Drive is a lot of fun in an agile car like the Z32, and it's rarely ever used by the public. ( translation - it's Hoon Heaven ) Yet another scribble map - The original plan was to stop at the bottom of Joseph Young Drive and let cars go up one at a time, at 2 minute intervals. With a man at the top ready to warn the drivers by buzzing their mobile phones in the unlikely event there was any traffic heading downhill. Then do the same for the downhill leg as well. But weather conditions on the day were not 100% in our favour so we shelved that idea. Next year... Back at Mount Tarrengower you can see Mount Alexander over to the East through the haze. And the dodgy photography Looked like it would take an hour to get there but about 25 minutes later we were at the top. So that's a descent from 570 metres to the level of the surrounding country side, while travelling 26 kms on a mixture of town streets and B roads, stopping to cross the freeway, then an ascent to 744 metres in the space of 25 minutes. And we weren't really pushing it. Honest Oh how I love these cars :zlove: Zeds gone bush, arriving at the lookout point - The wind was blowing fairly strong by this stage, made a real racket blowing through the towers. And the guy-wires were literally humming. PIC Couple of group shots. We were supposed to all venture out of the bush and stand on the rock outcrops to admire and photograph the view. But instead we huddled together shivering and chatting. I think brake fluid got mentioned a bit Stufarny's mint JDM NA slicktop in the foreground. He polished the rims himself, did the graphics on the car too. We left there around 3.30 for the downhill run with me acting as crash test dummy again and Alex on my ass like a terrier hunting a rat A short time later we were at the freeway and we split North & South to go home, just before the rain moved in. Thanks for coming along on this cruise guys & girls, I hope you enjoyed it even half as much as I did It was a great day in the company of excellent people. Met some new ( to me ) faces, caught up with some familiar faces, learnt more about these fantastic cars and just generally fell in love with the Z32 all over again :zlove: It was only 3 years ago that BADZX organised the first Goldfields Cruise. With your support it continues to be an annual event for Vic. And we're looking at ways to make it even more gooderer for next year
