I leave this space open for my upcoming (2nd) Z32. Which hopefully by the end of this month I'll have one ready, & on the road again. I'll 're-build' it to my taste in all aspects.

2 or something years ago I made the hard but wise decision to sell my naturally aspirated z, in plans of owning another 300zx one day, I did myself a favor. But this time around equipped with twins & manual gearbox. An engine conversion or expensive NA power-path was not on the plate back then.

It was a 2+2, auto, KH2 Grey/Satin Black J-spec NA. Slowest of them all. But I was one of those NA enthusiasts at the time :p Nonetheless, I loved it !

Present time 2011, I have accumulated some parts already for a car I don't even own yet ! These are parts I would be buying in the first week of ownership for the aesthetic side of things anyhow, for 'that' personal touch. ;)

    - Lenso D1R's, 17x9 +17 F (60mm dish) & 18x10 +22 R (90mm dish) 1
    - Clear side indicators (in the mail)
    - Clear rear markers 1
    - Nismo gear knob 1
    - Series II steering wheel (picking it up 9/04/11)
    - Aus-spec tined indicators 1
    - Ark-Design STB turbo timer 1
    - Genuine Z32 blank key 1
    - Polished gauge rings (no glue required) 1
    - Fiberglass foglight ducts (in the mail)
    - Genuine 'Nissan Fairlady Z' decal 1
    - Series 2 PTU (in the mail)
    - 6000k Jaycar HID's
    - Translated fuse box sticker 1

Just like my current 1JZ Soarer, this z will be made to be reliable yet with the power to go (200-220rwkw) whilst bringing it to a clean state inside & out.

I am not one for body kits anymore, so stock TT body lowered with the above Lenso D1R's. 2k tail lights will come eventually to complete.

Basic power modifications such as inter-cooler, exhaust, intake, electronic boost controller will come after I'm happy with the maintenance side of things. I think just to enjoy sitting in a z again will keep me occupied for a while !!

    That is all for now.

    Cheers,
    Mike

And that day has finally come .. I am in the z game again !!

It feels like an even stranger case of Deja vu, gazing at this car, which closely resembles my last z when I first owned it (wherever it may be these days )

Anyway, big day at Ross's house today, a top guy. I couldn't of asked for a more honest & easy transaction. I can appreciate all the work he has put into this awesome car. I only hope to add to it. Here is Ross's build thread for those who haven't seen -The Devil's Zed Rebuild.

And on a side note .. F*CK me dead, the feeling of sitting in a z again was like the first time I'd ever sat in one. Man, I feel at home again ! Though this time around it's TT'd & manual. I can't even explain myself further ..

From here on in I will be adding updates as I go, commencing this week.

Great to meet to you Mike. You'll fit in well with all the other great people I've met on here. I'm loving the soarer and I've already written myself a quick to do list of things I'll try and knock over tomorrow.
I'm glad you're enjoying the zed. It's an intoxicating car but I'm glad to see it go to a real enthusiast.
I'll be eagerly watching your progress.:)

    - Clear rear markers fitted / modified for bulbs

    - A variety of random badges removed from body work & interior

Good to see you waste no time with the car :D
Keen to see some progress pics.
My wife was chatting to me about the zedless situation and suggested we buy a rolling shell and start from scratch. I'll slowly start collecting bits as time goes on.:zlove:

I'm not as quick with the soarer. Removed baffle from stock airbox, installed some Nolathane from swaybar bushes and jacked the height up so I can get in and out of my driveway :D
Now I'm trying to work out where the power steering is leaking from x 2. My wife's soarer's power steering has a leak too.

Hey thanks for the tip about the coilpacks. Contacted the guy and looks like I'll be part of the testing crew :)

Absolutely mate, the obsession has already begun !!

I'd be keen to hear if you give the rolling shell idea a go ahead, that would be interesting.

You've started on the Soarer as well, awesome to hear, I could only imagine it handles a little better than before now ? And it just shows how much attention I paid not to have removed that baffle already !

No probs about those coilpacks, the guy seemed pretty keen to give it a shot, at least there would be 2 aftermarket options for JZZ30's now if it all goes well. Let me know how it all pans out !!

Definitely mate, it reflects some of the many good owners on this forum. Hope you enjoy the progress !

Haha will do, nothing like a good before & after photo.

Especially with the mud flaps on ! :D

    A few updates today:

    - 2k tail lights were shipped out this morning ! ($345 :D)
    - Genuine key cut
    - Transferred the car into my name (Black & White plates ordered)
    - Cleaned up the vacuum hose & boost gauge sitting on the dash
    - Cleaned up the remnants of glue & shit from where the wing sat with trusty caramel wheel
    - Clear rear reflectors fitted with Red LED bulbs
    - Dummy aus-spec indicators, no longer dummy !
    - Cut a hole out of the DIN pocket for placement of turbo timer (as originally nothing there & missing pocket)

And finally I'm in the process of getting one of Ztoy's replica spoilers to cover the aftermath left from the wing. I originally wanted to Brazilian this z as well, but I don't want to go down the track of painting the hatch etc.

    Enjoy

Great progress. Love the look of the speedo and that steering fits in great.

The soarer handles like a go kart. Never driven anything like it. The sway bar bushes I fitted on the weekend completed the handling package :D

A local guy dropped around today as he bought a silver soarer last week and is trying to get a rwc. He's a little concerned as no mechanics around here or Bendigo know anything about these cars but I've put his mind at ease and currently helping him tidy up a few things to get him through the rwc.

Will be doing some more soarer work tonight. I've re-installed the FCD and now trying to work out what's restricting the top end. I might have to start a soarer progress thread :D

Keep up the good work mate. I'll have to catch up with you soon and give you that e-tag as well as the leather interior stuff for the zed.

Here are a couple of shots before it starts to really take shape.

Kinda like the 'before' shots, even though I have changed a few aesthetic things already, this is just the beginning ..

If you want to see absolute original shots of this z check out - Goldfields 06/02/11
