Had a slight setback this week. Got the engine back onto the crane and started re-installing the clutch, then I remembered that we snapped 3 flywheel bolts trying to undo the harmonic ballencer...... so back on the stand she went. Meanwhile, I removed the old oil cooler and replaced it with a new one, and relocated the oil filter. The only reason I relocated the filter is to eliminate the sandwitch plate that drops down with the filter every time I change my oil. Bloody annoying thing with 2 oil lines coming out of it and 2 sensors hanging off it. The Oil cooler will run directly to the sump and iv re routed the sensors to the relocation kit. Very happy with how this will be setup . It will be a Much neater setup than before and will be super easy to empty catch can and change oil filter, especially because the front bar is just clipped on. More pics will come on the weekend, clutch will be installed and bellhousing back on... then its engine in time
Following this build very closely as I will be doing the same very soon. Can I ask what you had done to the block and heads? Are those new valves?
chromolly flywheel? this build is going to be wild incredible, the car went hard BEFORE this rebuild lol.
Just bored and honed the block mate and got heads serviced. Pretty sure their still old valves but they would'v all been pulled out, checked and cleaned in service.
Na no porting ay, was gunna do it myself but all it does is make the engine more responsive and I'm happy with how it was anyway so gave it a miss. Yeah stock cams too. Save them for next time . Stock cams work great unless u go overboard with turbo sizing.
upday ok guys, bit of an update. Had a few issues with the bloody ally flywheel. Stripped the ally thread straight away pretty much trying to torque the pressure plate bolts to spec. Long story short lol...Got all 9 bolt holes heli coiled and got the bloody clutch installed and bellhousing all bolted up ready for Sundays tech day. Sooo Hopefully will have her started up this weekend!! Also got rid of the quick release and previous steering wheel and installed new deep dish momo fakie.
just gave it a shot, its a lot stronger than the flimsy lookin thing in tha vid but I still reckon id be able to bend it if I gave it 100%. That's cos im really strong tho
