Well, the past few weeks my lifters have been rattling out of there brains. I'd checked the dipstick continuously and it showed that the engine had plenty of oil in it. I'd suspected that it may have just been a thin oil used. So decided to do an oil change. Ran an oil flush through the engine as well just to be on the safe side. Dropped the oil with a 5L container ready and waiting. I didn't have to wait long before the oil had completely drained. only problem was... There was close to a litre of oil MAXimum. Topped up the engine with new Oil 20w50 and took her for a nice calm drive. Noisy lifters are now back to silent peaceful critters again  Heres some pics to show just how bad the oil leaks from my car are at the moment. and the photo's wouldn't be complete without ME :cool2: you love me. I know you do Fate
Cam cover seals by looks of it. Did Mark reseal during recent plenum pull? Intake covers leak from VVT solenoids and exhaust covers from rear half moon.
So upon discovering your ExZessive oil leak you are going to do the prudent thing and fix it very shortly, arn't you Sean :nono:
Bingo Ringo! Plan is to have it all fixed up as soon as I get back from Warwick. Also on the list when we return from Warwick is to pull the tranny out and have some upgrades done whilst we're there. Hoping it's not an engine out job to fix these oil leaks. My suspicions are that it will. but others have mentioned it should be an Engine in job. Can't wait for the fun n games when we get back. :cool2: Least I wont be going offroad this weekend Fate
Pull the engine anyway. Trust me, you'll be better off as you can go right over the whole thing and scrap all the crap off it that isn't needed. Also run new vac lines for the actuators and replace any hoses that are hard or leaking. While you are doing that, the auto can be shipped off for mods. I'd be kissing up to Chrispy now so you can use his help and/or his engine hoist when you plan to do it. And don't be so sure about your offroading adventures. Did you plan the last one?
I'm afraid I don't have time to work on my own Zed let alone someone elses at the moment You can borrow the the crane for a week or two if you want it. Agree with Cam though, pulling the engine is by far the easiest if you want to change ALL your seal and hoses. No hasles getting to anything, less skinned knuckles and a all over better job
Agreed! he has done alot of good for the forum, he has been very busy with his work and family too....and his back is not the greatest either... u try bendin over a car for hours with a stuffed back...yes he should know when to stop but he tries hard to complete tasks, just because of one bad day doesnt mean anyone can hammer him...
Ive got alot of time for Mark and he has solved slot of problems that other people couldnt or wouldnt. Ive worked with him and seen him do a plenum pull and thought he was very proffesional. For a long time he offered those 99 dollar tune ups that you just couldnt get sone for that money any where else.
That is one mother of a leak Sean. As said above pull the engine and do all the hoses, seals, bypasses etc while its out. You will thank yourself for it a few months later.
Yeah, I am tired but I also have a habbit of opening my mouth faster than my brain works. So for that, I am sorry. And yes, I am hanging out for the easter bunny....or the helpers for that matter in a big way. BRING ON WARICK!
From scratchy memory cam covers were checked, clean and dry, cam cover bolts/screws tightened. Niall can confirm re the timing belt seals were replaced. Hows the powersteering fluid. That much fluid in that area usually spells hi-press ps fluid leak? NB: Concerns re R33k being investigated. This is news to me and I want to resolve any issues/rumours. Rick, pls see my PM. tnx tnx
