Great Vid, Andrew .... !!! Where did you have that rear camera mounted ... ????? Hard to pick up the slope from the Vid .. what degree of incline are we looking at .. ???
The camera was mounted in a GoPro suction housing on the rear quarter window.. i originally had it further forward on the quarter so there wasnt so much car in the picture but the officials wanted to write my number there The slope is on the long road on the way up, the red bit in this image I'm not sure what incline exactly, its pretty steep, the track was originally built as a soap box race track. the bit up the top where you do the loop is flat then you go back down the hill, which is a hairy corner coming back on to the straight to comeback out..its off camber and downhill Shane, yeah the track is defiantly the playground of an evo, infact you should see the incar footage from the winner, 1:01 (insane) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzdwyBjOEuE next best time was 1:06 a suzuki swift (that swift was fully stripped, big turbo, lexan glass all round, no cage) http://mstalr.com/results/ResultsOverall?event=228 I was trying to get her to powerslide around the second half of that top loop..but i just wasnt getting on boost in time.. (not that i know how to powerslide.. it just looked like it was the perfect opputunity to get her going) I could of just clutch kicked it and spun out for the audience.. haha
Full powerslide around that centre loop would have been cool Did well to get 10th, definitely not a track suited to a Z32.
Ok, well the last three months have been devoted to the variety club bash and making some pretty serious mods to my bash car (more at http://facebook.com/bashcar101) now its over for another year its time to get back into the race car.. i have a track day next thursday night but ive sold my old ECU and gauges.. so time for a quick Haltech install first thing i had to do when i got home was clean up the mess i made building the bash car.. i couldn't bare to look at in Sunday arvo (got back from the bash Saturday night).. i opened the garage Sunday arvo after father's day lunch, saw this, then closed the door again.. regathered myself monday after work and went to it.. moving the zed into the garage late monday night... cold semi slicks make the car really hard to push FYI I chose to go the Platinum sports 2000 over the direct plug in ECU as i have some future plans for a possible engine swap so i wanted the ECU to be transfereable later.. ill be using the long flylead harness with the new project so it meant i had to wire in the plugs manually mostly done, just have map/air temp, oil pressure and fuel pressure to do you can see all the wires on the left hand side of the picture arent used by the new ECU, ill strip the harness of these completely once i have everything working and im happy with my results I've also taken the opportunity to shorten the harness now and move the big bulkhead grommet further up the harness as i originally had a LHD harness which left a coil of cable beside the battery
As much as I love seeing this car in action, can we pretty please swap shells... I couldn't stand to see anything happen to such an amazing looking car :zlove:
pretty funny you should say that.. i have another complete shell, and bomex body kit for it.. if something did happen to it, she'd just come back bigger and better plus i couldn't see myself flying around the track in something more bunky
Haltech in, Ready to roll at Barbs tonight finsihed the Haltech install last weekend, tuned by PZP yesterday and ready to rock for tonight for some reason the spark is breaking down on the dyno second/third back to back runs.. so we wound the boost down to 20PSI for now while i work that one out.. might be time to move to CDI thought id share with you how I fitted the Racepak iq3 logger Dash cut out some 4mm acrylic to suit the shape of the zed dash trial fit before painting sanded and painted the back of the acrylic to give a nice gloss black finish all finished fired up looking hot now i have all the telemetry i need to help get my times down (still a complete newb but this should help accelerate my learning curve) installed the haltech on the kick panel to keep it away from the hot passenger floor and out from under the passengers feet hopefully have some cool vids from tonights night session at barbagallo raceway short and long track with No Limits Events
what plugs and gap are you running . weird you were blowing out spark at above 20 psi. haltech setup looks tidy
they've been fine at 24-26PSI for the last 5 years.. platinums 7.. would have been 1mm by the look of them.. we're delivering 514HP for 5 years with no spark loss changed to standard coppers heat range 6 and gapped em down to .8mm.. didnt help/change the situation i think everything was just getting too hot on the dyno.. suspect the coils for being old and shit to be honest was only occurring on 2nd/third back to back power runs.. wasnt pinging, just failing to fire at all, causing a very erratic power curve
Thanks guys! appreciate the feedback went awesome last night.. was pissing down all night though.. which was a new and interesting to say the least.. she'd spin the semi slicks in 4th gear down the straight.. so lots of mid throttle and very little boost managed 1:14 on the short and a 1:29 on the long fastest times on the night were 1:04 and 1:05 in an evo and a GTR which is 10-11 secs slower than a no limits event in the dry my fastest time on the short track is a 1:01 in the dry so far think id prefer to understand the dry alot better before doing wet laps.. but any experience is good experience.. so much fun.. when i do these night events i cant get to sleep till after 2am coz im so pumped.. haha (we finish at 11)
Hey man was going to come out tonight and give you some support but I got trapped at uni! Have to meet you next time. Would of been scary in the wet, hope your tyres held up!
Video First play with adding data logging to my videos I want to create my own dash with working boost gauge, and temps http://youtu.be/aqQlboV01Xg You can see I'm still not the smoothest with my steering, I have the tendency to turn too much then sort of wobble the steering back and forth... I was a lot worse in the beginning.. Like a kid playing a computer game.. Haha Also short shifted all night coz shed just spin the wheels once a decent amount of boost comes on. In the dry it doesn't have as much of that problem
Tip. Do away with the crappy music lol. We want to hear the real music to our ears, it's called a TT V6 Otherwise great vid :br:
haha.. thats funny.. my last vids had no music and people say add music the gopro audio was all wind noise.. think there must be a problem with the dust seal on the weatherproof housing gunna put another one in the cabin next time in a skeleton case to get all the noises better uploading same vid no music now.. post link when its done
