getting down to crunch time now so ive decided to leave the boot and finish the front section first as i want to be driving the car by mid nov few things i got on plus id like to attend the g.o.r in late nov.

so ill be concentrating on getting the sound proofing done in the front area so the carpet can go back in, then ill put the dash, interior etc back in atleast then i can drive the car. the extra things like stereo, new black interior, seats etc can be done without having the car off the road. my seats should be finished in couple of months time, and ive purchased a whole tweed interior so i can recover black in the mean time. for now ill put my cream interior and spare seats back in...

im leaving the air con blower and heater box out untill next year as when i take the engine out ive got to take the dash out anyway so i can get the new engine wiring loom in. prob start that say winter next year before i freeze my ass off from needing the heater.

so cleaned up the whole area, and put all the wiring for the system in. soldierd cables that hadnt been done before, cable tied everything to be neat and got rid of alot of wires not doing anything. got ecu etc out the way so i can do the sound proofing aswell...

very happy with these today. with the help of a mate we made up some plates with nuts etc for the seat belt relocation

cut some thick plates up, welded on the nut, and threaded in some holes for the mounting bolts. top little holes are just there to ancor it down with some wire.

tomorow i will be starting on step 2 of sound proofing, laying the mlv. this will be alot harder to work with than the foam hope it doesnt take me too long.

started working on step 2 of sound proofing, laying the mlv.

note to self: NEVER doing this shit ever again.

ok so ive got the hardest area done (front of cabin). hopefully tomorow can finish the laying of the rest for the cabin. once i get the carpet in i will be a happy man.

test fitted the ecu compartment area etc and seats so make sure its all going back in sweet. will still need to make some bit of trimming once i start putting things back in carpet, interior etc...

the mlv goes up to just past the stock firewall sound proofing stuff.

lol hopefully it turns out to be a quite ride and nice sound from the system to compliment.

yep will also be doing the doors. gotta try cover most of the veh up with this stuff, the more the better the end result will be.

need to get the car on the road so doors etc will be done later. first thing is i gotta get the carpet back in so i can put the interior back in. after the floor cabin area is done, gotta do the kickpanel area and then i can put the carpet back in. atleast then i can put the interior back in and drive the car. then ill concentrate on the rest later.

oh so glad this area is coming to an end. will still need to trim a lil more here and there to make everything fit well but hopefully it doesnt give me much trouble putting all the trim back in.

this is todays effort, love day light savings doesnt get dark for a while :cool:

today i cleaned the carpet and fibreglassed the dash in areas it was cracked/broken.

the dash is perfect on the outside (vynil side) so after tektrader springing the idea of fibreglassing the cracked/broken areas of the dash i thought it was better then purchasing another 2nd hand dash as mine will come out perfect now.

the carpet was pretty dirty, with heaps of stains and dirt/grime everywhere. love the way it came out, looks new no dirt, stains nothing perfect black colour now.

    this is before:

what i did was get a bucket of hot water, mixed in some laundry washing powder bout a scoop. and used this sweet machine that has two big wheels that clean the carpet effortlessly. i also used a small hand brush in the corners etc.

after i cleaned it thoroughly i hang it up to dry in the sun, and used the powerwash to thorougly clean it down. oh so much black water came out

this is how its looking pretty dry. no stains the carpet smells nice and looks great

while i was at it i thought id clean my mats aswell. the drivers side has the plastic protector thing coming off a bit ill get this sewed on after its dry will look brand new again. the silver zed came out looking so nice and bright again.

after all that i thought id repair the dash so i thrashed it with some fibreglass. after its all dry ill grind back and make sure its all nice so no bits hanging out etc

this bit was gone so i put some sheetmetel in and fibreglassed it in

    fibreglass fixes everything

yeah its pretty oldd skool lol but works so good :D

this is todays effort with the help of a mate we got heaps doneeee wat a legend :D:D

the dash came out perfect, very happy with it sanded the fibreglass bits all nice strong as and looks great etc etc

new heater core in, all climate control sensors connected everything sweet. checked its operation and perfect, first time ive felt air con in the car soooooo cold :D i left the car running with the air con on for 10minutes and came back to it and the temp on ecutalk only went up to 79degrees. ill leave the heater core bypassed for now though, ill connect the engine side hoses wen the cold weather hits melb again.

just couldnt help my self either had to go for a spin in it around the block, ohhhh how ive missed it. felt niceee. once i start driving it again though ill do an oil change and oil filter change first. hasnt really been driven for a year and half...

i guess the pics will do the talking, will be working on it again tomorow hopefully i can get the rest of the interior in would be good if i can.

pm me with your interest and ill let you know what im looking at, if your happy you can reserve them.

driving the car now, drove it all day today with aircon on aswell its 32degrees in melb today. the temp sat around 89-90degrees while driving, max it hit in traffic and stopping is 93max. put aircon off and the temp fell quickly down to roughly 87. guess coolant etc is still sweet. still full and green.

im driving around atm with the old oil in, just to get it thinned out from sitting there so long, then on friday ill empty it out and put a new oil filter and new oil in etc...

everything else is sweet ahhhh feels so good to drive it again :zlove:
