hey there guys, been meaning to do this for a while. but been to lazy/busy with my car to do so. As some might remember, around this time last year i brought my first car, a black '89 j-spec z32. sexy beast she was but had her for all of a month b4 she sucked face with a pole had a dark period as i was forced to buy a car quickly for a new job and ended up with a vt commonwhore for about 10 months :/ So i saved up my pennies once again and brought myself a new jap land cruiser, a '90 silver n/a slicktop as i live in Mildura, these cars are hard to come by. And just to give you an idea, i know all the local owners by name haha. I had to search through the bowels of carsales ect ect to find a new pride and joy. Eventually found this one and made the trip down to Melbourne to have a look see. she wasn't much paint wise, but has a strong heart and was in good nick inside. Eventually made an offer and came down to pick her up for a 600km trip back home a few weeks later mate of mine (prelude) that lives in Melbourne was nice enough to run me around so i could get my car So far i have fixed up a few things here and there with what time i do have. painted and polished a few bits. And have some new goodies on the way from the land of herrafrush and tractor pulls hope i haven't bored you all just yet, so here are some pics!! Watch this space as i will try my best to keep this updated with the goins on of my zed :zlove: Supermegaphone tips 20rwkw right thur Oh gotta love the siliconed on wing :bash: dodgey rear quarter repair, its not even flush!!! missing somthing?? As she sits currently
Lol @ pedo bear All the kewl kids have Slicktops Bin those horrible seat covers though. Nothing worse than sitting in nice seats covered in seat covers :vomit:
wish i could have my seats out in all there glory but this is a daily and my job can lead to me being very messy at the end of the day, so its just to be safe. they will be off in a few months once I've moved to the city Slick tops ftw! i never thought i would, but i don't really miss the t top!
little update guys. Dont be shy, let me know what you think! i know its a P.O.S atm made a floor for the turd last night. got sick of the crappy little wheel hole cover. so to go from this.. i used: 900x1200x6mm mdf jigsaw news paper masking tape and a pencil scissors razor blade some sort of strap, something to secure the strap removed the rug in the back, then covers the whole floor in newspaper taped together and lightly taped to the walls to give it stability. from there i used the pencil to draw around the outside of the boot space to make a stencil for the floor. carefully removed the stencil and cut it out, then taped it onto the mdf sheet sitting on two stands to allow me to cut the sheet without problems. after a bit of fine tuning with some sand paper and more jigsawing, i finally got my floor the carpet the came with my car was a out door mat with some carpet on it just sitting in the boot. i put the mdf floor on it and used the razor blade to cut the carpet to size and fitted it all to the zed. also fitted a black cloth strap to the front end of the floor for easy removal. not to bad for $10
hey nice work! but please don't call it a P.O.S, it looks pretty good to me, i've seen much, much worse. At least you are an enthusiast who has the car's best interest at heart, not one of those little shit's who buy these old classics, flog the bejesus out of them until they die a horrible death & then complain they are unreliable. Keep up the good work:zlove:
good advice from your previous threads id say u were considering buying this car a few months ago? trust me, from these photos you cant really see the condition of the body work, there's mismatched paint, door dents and bad swirl marks. how ever, everything else is good cheers for that mate i think its just by fluke that ive fallen in love with zed's, always wanted a silvia but since owing my first z32 i could never be apart from one haha i hope to one day bring this upto something i would be proud of to put into a show, big plans for this car, going in the direction of a jdm styled cruiser. Mr ZEDEX can eat his heart out
When you get to the point of taking the rear quarter panel off to get it resprayed, it may be a good time to have a look at the chassis underneath, to check for any signs if it's been in an accident before. Probably not likely to be anything too bad, and may have even just been damaged to the panel itself without any chassis damage occurring. The floor in the back is looking much better than before though. Looks nice and neat now. What have you got planned next?
new clutch/flywheel to go in next. also new oil, coolant, tranny fluid, spark plugs, filter ect. then save for a 100,000k service kit. buying new rims somtime to haha
Im gonna be doing the same thing man, looks great! my boot is a haggard P.O.S well done so far though, keep it up.
Nice man, once you've fixed up those few cosmetic things it'll be sweet. Just take it a easy. Don't kill yourself.
cheers man and if you need some help on the boot floor, dont hesitate to ask, my write up was pretty brief, i can go into more detail if you need it hopefully things that need to be fixed just stay cosmetic and trust me, once bitten twice shy. do not want to go through all that again cheers i actually prefer the slick top i reckon, looks much sleeker and doesn't get so hot inside the bloody thing!
Think I'll do that to my boot... my carpet's all out of shape and the wheel well cover is cracked. Good project for an afternoon!
it's good to see another z bein saved from somethin bad peps like you keep me goin to finish my z if only we could save em all project z 2+0 89[/IMG]
Update!! detailed the car engine bay came up a treat, it was all one colour before, brown picsss before: After: i am pleased with how good some of it came up :br:
Nice work mate. Love the new boot. If you want to take it to black here is a good material I found recently:http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110392554423&ssPageName=ADME:B:WNASIF:AU:1123#ht_500wt_922 Also the thing missing in front of your windscreen is a cowl. Replacement here:http://www.cazracing.com.au/catalog/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=cowl&osCsid=8e6ad91e294e0a74d531b1548b2eab5c&x=0&y=0
While you're at it check the front. Either the front bar's been replaced, or the engine has... (TT front bar, NA engine)
cheers for the link mate! will order a cowl from there asap! asked the guy that previously owned it, just has a new front bar, i reckon its not a bad idea. tt front lip looks tougher than the n/a pending on the weather next week, if it is warm and clear ill attack the rear quarter. I have some colour coded paint in a rattle can, sand paper and some body filler. see if i can blend it in a bit better than this failed attempt
