VQ breathes a lot better? Thats the guts of it on my understanding. Plus ultimately the better VQ crank support will enable the bottom end to handle more power than the VG. Lets face it, VG main bearing support is not the greatest for a race engine, ask Electramotive back in the '80's.
More Progress Custom 6 BOOST manifolds arrived this week and pic shows trial fitting. Also recieved a pair of Turbo Smart new Compact waste gates, no pics yet and fitting today. More pics. http://www.gtr.com.au/Page12.htm http://www.gtr.com.au/Page_12.htm
I know you want it light John but I really recommend putting the cam chain & covers etc back in unless...... two stroke conversion  When is the expected first start time? Very keen to see comparative track times etc with the new engine
Bugger me this is going to be absolutely shit hot! Liking the build so far, be good to see the WB kit in colour eventually. Nice work!
More parts complete Turbo Smart new Compact Gates added. 3 inch Stainless exhaust built in house, 1.6mm wall thickness used for the first section down to the bottom of the gear box, then 1.2mm back to where it joins up to the 4 inch pipe. Umm yer praps, but upwards of 1000Hp and high 9000's rpm's in qual trim and around 700 Hp and 8000rpm for race will stress just about anything built that long ago with the technology of the day. They could have chosen far worse engines. These things did very long races as well. Somewhat different block design back then on those older VG's as well.
VG's are reliable and strong but with 800hp plus need better girdle. The VQ is not only 100kg plus but also much lighter rotating mass. We pulled motor out today and appart, to send off and get everything Powder coated and HPC coated.
New custom front bar plug for slot car. Inbuilt splitter, to be rendered in carbon fibre. Has reduced side vents, indicators removed. Much wider now 1930mm wide and huge front splitter with tunnel in the middle feeding air dam which is further back. Followed the proven wind tunnel tested design of the Nismo 35GTR GT500 Car See more photos at our facebook page here
Yep did this for years and know what to do with them and squeeze the most out of then reliably. It was time to devlop the new Nissan motor. Pic taken today about to drop in the VQ30. We had to relocate the alternator as the dry sump pump was in the way. Ross Balancers, made custom bracket and oversized pulley and dropped motor back today.
The plug is now finally finished for the front bar, painted in 2pack black. Ready to make the mould, then it will be made in Carbon fibre The design for the car is from the Super GT 500 cars. Just installed the motor and Dave is wiring up the Haltech with military spec wires.
