i have also just weighed and measured my vq30 valve train compared to the vg30. Valves are 2mm bigger, and the valve, spring, retainer and collets are 11g lighter as a total per valve assembly. Add this to the previously mentioned solid buckets and hollow cams and there are some nice little saving there! I have also found that vk45 valves fit these 30 head, and are titanium from the factory.

Yes everything is lighter other than the valves which from memory inlet
valves were about 2.2mm bigger and exhaust 1.8mm slightly heavier than the VG, although the VQ buckets (solid lifter) are much lighter than the VG hydrolic lifter.

Yesterday we made a custom oil catch can with two baffle plates and used stainless steel wool to filter the oil, this is integrated to the oil tank and breathes out through filter underneath.

The VG30DETT stock motor complete with accessories including the automatic flex plate, AC compressor and wiring loom which we weighed this week was 265kg, a bit lighter than what I thought.

We weighed our VQ35 race engine with heavy dry sump pump and -16 oil lines, 16mm bell housing adapter, clutch and flywheel but no loom or turbos and no power steering pump or AC compressor and it weighed 167kg.

    Update

We removed the Nismo coolant thermostat from the factory location which regulates the water going into the engine and changed it to a billet alloy housing which we welded to the outlet of the engine to regulate water temps better. Opens at 71C.

Prepping VQ35 block to suit Supertech deck guards. We modified the deck guards by marking out where the water galleries are on the head gasket, and drilling to suit to improve water flow.

Marked in red to show where to drill extra holes.

Using cam spacers to utilise VQ35 cams in the VQ30 head, we found that there was not enough purchase for the cam sprocket, so we made these internal spacers that sit inside the hollow cam and inside the spacer with a step. This will be much stronger and prevent the possibility of the cam gear walking off the cam causing major damage.

We deleted the factory cam sensor triggers on the factory cam sprockets by machining them off on the lathe and making our own cam trigger to suit the Haltech computer. This had an added benefit of lightening the two cam gears from 605.4 grams each to 577 grams. This will help offset the extra weight of the spacers.

    Hi Octane Performance Coating.

High temperature coated our exhaust manifolds to reduce temperatures in our engine bay.

We are now using a Lithium battery, the brand is Ballistic

    Dimensions: 112MM (L) x 112MM (W) x 103MM (H)
    Weight: 1350 grams (3 lb)
    Voltage (Charged): 13.6V
    Amperage: 28 Pbeq A/H
    Cold Cranking Amps: 500 CCA
    16 Cell EVO2 (100-013)

Due to the new VQ35 having a miss fire, we are adding M&W CDI ignition system(500V instead of 12V) with the latest MSD 8.5mm Supper Conductor Leads & coil.

This is the same as what V8 Super Cars use.

Replacing Bosch 044's after one failed again(after many years of use) although they've proven in other cars also to not be reliable and flow reduces with heat

We've fitted two of the new Walbro E85 safe in tank pumps, with E85 safe fuel hose. These flow alot more at over 400 lph, and much more reliable. We had to make custom extension to mount the filters at the bottom of the tank to clear the gravity fed roll over valves, in the in-built surge tank.

Upgraded from 50mm factory throttle bodies, to aftermarket billet alloy 65mm throttle bodies.

We also made the intake plenum's larger whilst shortening the runners.

We added EF Falcon with custom twin high speed thermo fans and shroud.

See MSD ignition coils in banks of three on top of the chassis rails.

We also changed to a Systems 1 motorsport oil filter with a Filter Mag.

See bulk head fittings on fuel tank wiring for the fuel pumps in the tank.
