Shit Jono didn't your mum tell you about not sticking you finger where they shouldn't go. Get well mate
holy shit i couldnt even continue to look at the other pics, glad its not worse man hope for a fast recovery
Whoa! What a mess, good luck and hope you have a speedy recovery and are in ok spirit for Xmas. As much as your engine looks fantastic without the timing belt cover... This should serve as a warming to these running exposed belt covers, the covers are there for a very good reason! Not only for safety, but also to avoid items being flicked up inbetween the belt and idlers. And given the bonnet is shut and engine out of sight for 99.5% of the time.. Use them.
Fark Jono, i'm a bit the same mate. I couldn't view all the photos, a bit too graphic for my poor tummy, but shit mate - that's crippled your finger for life mate. All because of "bling factor"! I hope you get full use of your finger back again matey. I've always advised people against having exposed timing belts for "theoretically" this reason, but this is the first time it's actually happened to someone for real! I'm a bit shocked, but hope everything comes out good for you in the end matey. This is seriously a horrible thing that's happend to you buddy.
yep, Benny .. definitely time for those "clear" covers, the idea for which pop-up from time to time ....
Geez I get all motivated and spend the evening working on the zed, jump online for the first time in months to see how everyone else is going and see this! Heal up quick Jono, glad you still got your finger man.
OUCH......................hope ya get better soon man and take care when back on deck..................
Thanks people. Spent another 3 hours at hospital today. 2hrs 50 minutes waiting!!! Anyway, just over a week since surgery & finger is already looking a heap better. Started physio today & stitches out in a week. I can still hold a beer in my left, so I'm all good! Have a great & safe Christmas period
Jono Your finger looks like it was dined on by that friendly looking canine in your avatar............ nice doggie!
Sorry to those who have already seen this on facebook (or 3ZC), but for those that haven't & might be interested... I had another hospital visit this week & I'm happy to say I've been discharged... YIPPEE!!! Still lots of swelling, so I still have to wear compression tape 24/7. Hopefully in another month it will start to settle. Here is how it is looking now. I ordered this cover before the accident (ironic really). I'm going to paint the covers body colour.
Hey Jono, the surgeon has done a pretty good job there, were you in the Royal? Do you have feeling in the 'new' part of the finger yet, and what's the outlook with regards to nerve growth? Best wishes with the recovery. Tony
Hi Tony, Yes I was at the Royal. I do have feeling there, but it still has a numb feeling to it. They say nerves grow back 1mm a week. My main concern is the scar tissue. It fully matures at 12 months, so I'm massaging/rubbing it firmly a couple times a day so that it won't affect my movement. Hopefully the swelling will subside soon & I'll be good as new
Sure looks alot better than the last photo i looked at. 6 months time and you will all good. Heal fast mate. Dave
Good to see it's healing without too much drama Sim. On another note is that the same type of timing cover the bloke from the UK was using on his black Z? His was painted HOK candy gold. Details?
