so while i wait for my other goodies to turn up and spend more money on other goodies *rolls eyes* ...

I thought id start on the old engine and take off the bits i needed.
Plenum, fuel rails, rocker covers, throttle bodies etc.

Then i thought i would start pulling it apart and inspecting to determine cause of the noise i had leading to my rebuild...
After getting a look at my cams its leading me to believe it is lower down.. (bottom end)

My cams actually look in rather good condition,

On a side note.. MY GOD !!!.. how restrictive are the stock dumps!!! .. its like a 90 degree bend with a restriction in pipe size!... i mean i knew they were bad but actually seeing them in person upclose now gives me a proper idea.

ALSO, my turbos appear in good condition, no shaft play, sight but of oil present in the intake pipes. but otherwise good.

I've got a set of stock dumps here too, thought the same thing.

Looking good by the way Procky, can't wait for this to be back on the road!

    This is normal; PCV's?

I think it is normal, I remember reading a thread where someone had to flush out one if his side mounts because it was drowning in oil...

THAT'S not normal, that was blown turbo oil seals. PCV's actually only blow oil into the intake manifold, so it's unlikely

You do have breathers on the intake cams which are connected to the turbo intakes so it is possible.

Clearly emptying your intercooler isn't normal, I think a bit of oil is...

    Probably wrong though.

Totally normal only way to avoid it is to run a catch can.

Its also possible to reloate the breathers onto the intake cam covers which helps.

Well if I had to put a time frame on it I'd say 4weeks away - quickest part will be putting the engine back in with it's new flywheel and clutch
