Hey guys, thought it was a good idea to start a build thread for my current zed, to track my progress and see how far I've come.

This is my most recent zed (My third one that's been on the road)

    Year: 1991
    Body (2+0/2+2): 2+0
    Colour: 732 black
    Engine (Turbo/NA): NA
    Transmission (MT/AT): MT
    Interior (Cloth/Leather): Tweed
    Odometer: 185000
    Purchase Price: $3500

A photo the day I bought it
    [IMG]
    and a few days after
    [IMG]

I bought the car and pretty much as I was driving down the street one of the mufflers fell off, so I replaced it with some dirty cannons.

After that I did a full service including diff and gearbox oil, installed a new AFM and pod filter.

Then my car decided to try and kill me on the GOR cruise. As I was driving along the very narrow cliff edge roads, my PCV intake pipe decided to fall off and jam my throttle completely open. I chucked it in neutral and valved bounced for a while until it was safe to stop. Probably one of my worst zed experiences to date. Thats okay though...

A few days later I ripped my spoiler off and installed my third brake light in 15 minutes (pretty sure this is the new zed world record hahaha).

Then rwc and its time for more low and better wheels, along with other shit still to come!

Also replaced the shit silver windscreen washers with stock ones, new passenger windscreen cowl, air idle control valve, z1 silicone idle intake pipes and partially fixed the exhaust leak.

Some standard 300zx issues have re-arisen. Injector no. 4 has a major leak, vct doesn't seem to be activating and I found out the timing is out a tooth. Gonna pull that dirty plenum off tomorrow!

Finally got a rwc and its in my name. Had a pull in a few dodgy favors from some leb friends to get it haha.

    Finally put it back together.

    Doesn't work yet.

    Don't know if it will.

    F*** zeds

Compression test came back pretty good. 165-170 across all cylinders. Timing is all good. Turns out a hose going to the EGR wasn't plugged in properly, but all is good.

I can hear something that sounds suspiciously like piston slap. Could anyone shed some light on this? As to how it occurs, what it sounds like, what the best course of action if it does occur.

Attach the bodykit properly and you'll have a good looking car.

I have no problems with that method of attachment. My other car is a land rover. :p

What is the proper way of attaching it? I just used the existing holes and put screws in them... Assuming this is correct haha. I'll paint the screws black so they don't stand out

That lip was not sold new with holes in it, they were (unfortunately) added in by a previous owner. Horrible addition.

    Should be glued.

Hey dude, invest in a polarising filter. Every owner of a black car should have one, tank me later.

Got one already! I've got a whole array of filters to still find the values of! Thanks for the tip, never tried it with my car.
