just finished putting my engine in, wiring it up and putting all the intake and cooler piping on, went to crank it over and it wont start! it's getting fuel but no spark, so i cleaned the coil pack connector plugs and tested for spark again still nothing. the PTU was working in the blokes car before he sold it to me but i thought it could have gotten f##kd so i changed my PTU over to the one that came off my n/a engine which was working before i pulled the motor out, cleaned the connections and plugged that in, tried again and still nothing. the ecu has no error codes. what else should i check? what else would cause it not to spark? Andrew
also and i'm not running the stock boost solenoids i'm running an after market EBC (which isnt connected yet) is there anything that i need to do when i remove them or will the car run fine with just the after market one? Andrew
pull the cas unit out. and leave it plugged in. when you turn the spindle on the back, you should be able to get the injectors fire and the plugs too. and check your tps too
pulled the cas out and spun the spindle and i can hear the fuel going thought the lines, sounds like the fuel pump is priming this was my first engine swap so list EVERYTHING that could cause it not to spark, like something i might have forgotten cause i'm running out of ideas Andrew
Make sure you attach your ground wire to the Plenum...this is super important as it can fry your PTU everytime. Super common mistake for plenum pulls and engine swaps.
yeah well i'm charging the battery atm cause it was dead. i've put all the grounds i can see on so i hope that i've got them all and i took the PTU out and cleaned it and i'm going to get a multi meter tomorrow and test that its all working correctly. asuming this is all working fine would there be any other things that i havnt checked like a fuse or anything like that? (note this is the first time i've done this and i'm only a first year mechanic so think of everything i've tried and i cant think of anything else) cheers for all the help guys
Wouldn't hurt to check all your fuses. Fuse/Relay box near the headlights, battery fuses behind your cruise control, then fuses in your drivers kick panel.
