Have had a coolant leak for a week or two, seemed like it was coming from the water pump. So before every drive I would top it up with water. Went for a longer drive then usual and the engine stopped. At first thought was that I have cooked the engine, but the temp gauge remained the usual half way mark. There IS fuel in the tank. Has not started up again since. I thought about draining the fuel out incase I got bad fuel, or suspect its the PTU, but after the recent overheating probs I would gather its much more serious then that.
All I have done so far is pull out the spark plugs. Have done a ECU diag and everything seems fine. My deepest fear is that I have fried my engine. But can someone have any pointers on what I should be doing/looking for?

Series 1 PTU's are very sensitve to overheat situations

My guess would be that the PTU has failed. If it was/is still OK, I would expect the engine to crank and start, even if it wouldn't run. Swap PTU's and see what happens

Hard to tell if both incidents are related...

As doug said, PTU is a common problem, so is CAS plug connection... even if no error codes. I'd clean the terminals on both PTU and CAS (Crank Angle Sensor) so they are bright and tight and try again. Don't crank over too long of you could flood the engine and foul the plugs...

So what happens if I foul the plugs?

Clean them, or better to get new ones?
