My old zed was called Holly...

For the first 6 months, whenever my mates were in the passenger seat and I took off hard... They'd go to say holy shit but could only ever say HOLY. It stuck


The white one is named Pearl.. For obvious reasons.

However I was thinking about calling mine "Betty"...Being Black, so Black Betty, and me being a nurse and all Nurse Betty...so it's a link between us lol...However she doesn't really look like a Betty..maybe I'll give it a shot ROFL

But then again you could just get personalised plates and call your zed that..

 

hmmm.... am definately lookin at pl8's for it, but won't be going fully personalised... i am looking at SXC-091 (sexy (i was born in 1991)) lol, but dunno yet... i thought about DW-91-ZX... so the pl8's may not lead to a name... everyone is dead right, 'the zed' does stick to the car so easily... has anyone had any funny names? - one of my mates had an i30 - and he called it digit, cause it had digits in its name lol...i couldn't think of anything unique to the zed tho...

Hay, mines called Jennifer ... and I did not even pick the name.
When I got my Kamari rear bar my best-friend said it gave her (the car) a big butt like "Jennifer Lopez"'; hence Jennifier.

My Celica was called Celia... that one is obvious.

A lot of people give things names because it is the human way to humanize things, or impose human characteristics on things because of the feeling that the thing produces in that person, or the characteristic of the thing that separates it from other similar things (e.g. it handles differently, plays a note differently, just perfectly weighted, feels ???), or simply as a sign of ownership.

Usually the named thing has some form of relationship with the owner; either it is a key work tool, there is a love-hate relationship, the thing is heavily dependent on, or important part of the family (e.g. Betsy who takes the kids to school).

A musician gives his guitar, violin a name.
A cricketer gives his bat a name.
A fighter pilot has a name for his combat plane.
A race-car driver has a favourite chassis for the year (and calls it after one of this favourite girlfriends)... I heard that in the early 90s Emerson Fittipaldi and his team mechanics performed an exorcism on one of his assigned race cars because of her wicked ways.

Sometimes people give things names, but that name don't stick most probably because the name does not suit the things characteristics or match the relationship with the thing.

It aint 'ghey', it is just human nature.

Oh things that are assigned names are more often taken better care of then those that are not.

naming cars a bit of a chick thing, my ex calls her car klaus coz its an audi...lol - i stick with ZED, the monsta, the beast, the money pit etc
