I changed my turbos for a set that a mate and I kitted out with new seals and bearings . We removed the intake and heads to do the swap because we just couldn't get at the bolts in car .we didn't muck about with anything we just removed and refitted and now she just won't start .. We checked and rechecked the timing .. She will run momentarily on start ya bastard but won't go for more than a few seconds .. What now where bamboozled
That is a lot of work and hassle to replace turbos . I would start with checking the timing properly and make sure you count teeth as per manual . Do a boost leak test make sure you have all the hoses on properly .
checked and rechecked timing it will run on aero start .. fuel lines are the same as b4 the swap as i took photos and closeups to be sure ..i feel it could be a fuel issue and im trying to trouble shoot my way through
What spark plugs you using ? I have a devil of a time trying to start after rebuild or engine transplant with those platinums . Everyone recommends copper plugs , not as temperamental
ok i tested the injector signal =ok tested fuel pressure =ok no boost leaks fuel lines right way around will run on aero start only still will have to get copper spark plugs and try that ...
Check positive injector wire. Hi there. Because you say it starts on Aerostart then it must be fuel. You say you checked the injector signal. Did you use the CAS to do this? If the injectors clicked then something is not right. MichaelZ
Are you getting fuel to the injectors ? ... pull the hose off the fuel rail to confirm. The question has been asked before e.g. are the fuel hoses the right way around ? ... the right way around before the filter, it is easy enough to connect the fuel return to the filter and the other to the fuel regulator.
i used a injector tester its just a little led light set with different types of plugs you just pick the same plug as yours and winde over and see if the injector gets a signal witch it does and lights up the light when it gets some voltage and the fuel hose was disconnected from the rail and manifold after the filter and put back the way it was b4 ,i even took photos of it before i started ..but i will try it the other way round just to humor every 1 and see what happens ..will post results on thursday after another try .
i pulled the fuel hose off and had very good pressure it took ages to stop squirting fuel out .. but is it getting to the injectors i dont know ?? the injector is getting a signal i tested that .. but how to test for fuel at the injector ??
Post a picture of your engine bay the guys will be able to see if it's connected up the right way. Maybe a shot of the top of the motor
Can you answer one simple question. Follow the fuel hose after the fuel filter. Does it go to the fuel pulsation dampner (small round cylinder on drivers side of engine between intake runner 3 and 5) or does it go to the Fuel Pressure Regulator (looks similar to the fuel pulsation dampner but on the passenger side closest to the fuel filter)?
Ok so we got her going turns out I had a couple of injectors not working so we replaced them with a set we had but there like 720cc or ther abouts and now she runs but too Ritch can I get a tune or do I have to get a new ecu to suit or what do you have to do when you go bigger injectors ....
