Hi there i currently have a stock bottom and top motor with just bolt on mods just wondering what power i can get and what boost will be safe and want to know other mods i can do to get more power with the standard motor. Current mods are gt2871rs tubos fmic 3" exhaust and i have an eboost 2 boost controler but its not fitted yet car makes 314hp on the stock boost.

Why do you have such massive turbo's on a stock engine?

    What injectors? Standard?

I put them turbos on because the standard ones have had it so i bought them ready for my future built motor and yes injectors are standard im just trying to more power out of stock motor while i build a forged motor

Check your injector duty cycle and go from there. I doubt you will have much left in them really.

yeah just tune it to 90% duty cycle for now

    and enjoy the lag :p

Haha yes little bit of lag not as much as i thought it would be and the injectors are at about 70 ish% duty cycle

chances are you are not on stock boost, after market turbos and wastegates can have different opening pressures. I am not saying this is absolute but it may pay to verify your actual boost levels before modding the car further.

Do you know for sure what pressure your running - and 2871 will still be laggy on a built engine compared to 2860 or 2560.

I wouldn't be pushing more power if you want your stock engine to last while you build your forged 300rwhp is plenty

Ha got to be one or the other my friend, can't have both...

Yes wastgate pressures are set at 13 psi and actual boost after nistune was installed and dyno tuning was complete is 10.5 psi

    correct me if i'm wrong.

boost < wastegate pressure. it wont open will it?

    Depends :p

I set my wastegates to start opening at 15psi with turbo's off the engine, when it's running it only reaches 11psi. Magic!

Where are you measuring 11psi from? Perhaps this is indicative of pressure drop accross intercoolers etc?

backpressure in manis will open wastegates sooner as well .

When you set the wastegates to open on the bench there is no exh pressure against the face of the wastegate valve. When you add this pressure to the face of the valve it takes less pressure on the diaphragm to open the gate/valve.

ah makes sense now. thanks mungz

Boost reference for the wastegates is after the intercoolers and the boost gauge comes off the plenum, so will ignore any losses in the intercooler and adjust actual turbo outlet pressure to suit desired plenum pressure.

thats the case with our factory units, however a lot of aftermarket turbos feed the wastegate from the turbos own housing. And if these type are not altered to suit our plumbing style then there can indeed be an effect from the interccolers etc.

Yeah I know, not may turbos for the zed are like that. And mine are definitely not.
