2 of those electric superchargers on their twin turbo Z to reduce lag? Just wondering because I hear lots of people talking about them, even zedders.I THINK they act as a pod filter(2 on the Z) and then have connections to the throttle body, please correct me if im wrong.Anyhow, just wondering, cheers.
yeah i just looked at the reviews For these things aint they are suppose to be a bit of a farce, was thinking though they might be ok for an already twin turbocharged car hooking up 2 of em to the throttle bodies, but I doubt ill bother
For a 3L motor they don't push nearly enough volume to be of any use whatsover. Spend you coin elsewhere buddy.
I cannot see how they would work Yes the air in is passive but the spool up of the turbo is more of the ability of the engine to flow the exhaust gasses to spool the turbos up. So if you try to flow more gass through partly restrictive inlet and force the induction side to spool up without the exhaust turbine true input I would think you would only try to mildly compress the gases and heat the gas up with little change or negative effect on your performance. Spent the money on exhaust manifolds, pleniun, throttle bodies. intercooler and a tune. Or liquid nitrogen your intercooler gets real cold air even if its for a short time.
2x 60amp brushless ones might do something for a few psi. But a lot of power draw. Need to get all the electrics upgraded. I had considered using 2 of these before. But the cost was more than a grand once tallied up with a bigger alternator and a big battery. On the NA with mabey 2-4 psi it might give (20-40 ? ) hp if it works. TT im guessing you would lose power because of such a huge restriction.
yep i dunno what i was thinking..shit idea..im gonna do the 100k service and make sure the engine is ridgey didge??then maybe a full exhaust system and upgraded turbos plus bigger injectors(shouldnt need a chip should i?)maybe set the boost a weee bit higher(dont wanna go mad)12-14 psi max. Now ive gotta talk my workmate outta the idea of the electric shit(hell do it anyway)thanx.
If you want electric and are keen, then get a bunch of batteries in boot.. 2 huge alternators and the biggest elect SC u can find. Spend about 10k. Than you can have 35psi on tap from 0rpm for spurts of about 30 seconds at a time between battery recharges.
meh was asking if it would reduce lag is all..already have twin turbos, obviously I never expected GREAT gains lol.
Why? Because instead of holding his hand and kissing I'll tell him like it is and that electric superchargers are a total scam and complete waste of money that wont actually do anything? lol "Yeah dont let 300zxt come along with the sound of reason! Quick run! 300zxt is coming with the truth under his arm! Heads in the sand quick!" lol Dopey!
ANY MODS YOU DO TO THE ENGINE YOU NEED A retune of your engine management especially if you are changing the turbos and injectors ortherwise it definately be running worse than originally before the changes
turbo lag is the best thing about the zed don't see why you would want to change that :zlove: :zlove: :zlove:
Guess i'm lucky, don't really have to much lag... boost comes on kinda smooth at 1600rpm, peaking by 1800, 1900rpm and stays nice and even through the whole range from there. Even the guys on the dyno were like "wow that's nice timing". Said most don't start kicking till above 2000, 2200 rpm.
I did not know that. Thank you. But I challenge that statement on the grounds that as a blanket statement it's totally insufficient and misleading.
