Anyone else have this issue? My drivers side window rolls up a couple cm too high & fouls on the top of the door. The window comes off the rail when this happens, I have replaced the nylon runner guide as per this tech article:

    http://www.pexcom.com/images/Rattling-Window.pdf

however the window still rolls up too high. What can be done to fix this? I was thinking that perhaps affixing something to the top of the rail to stop the window going any further may do the trick? Has anyone got any advice on what to do to fix this? Quite annying & had the problem since purchase of the car back in Nov 2012. Would like to finally get this sorted!

Yes there is 2 stoppers on each door, they should be secured by a 10mm nut and mine sit to the bottom edge of the slot. sorry put the door cards yesterday but may be able to get a pic of the spare door ones tonight if you cant find them.

Damn no stopper on mine. A photo would be appreciated, otherwise I will pull my passenger door apart to take a look later in the week

??? I have had a look cant see how to adjust? There are no stoppers on the rail & I can't adjust the rail up or down as the clearance on the rail bolts is very tight.

Have a look in the bottom of the door. Bits should be laying there if they have come loose. Try a magnet to pick them up.

    Further help required

Ok so I was looking in the wrong spots, the window stoppers are there, but not effective. The top stopper is 2 fingers too far to the left & hence the stopper does not make contact with the part of the window that it is supposed to. I cannot adjust it to suit as it can only be adjusted up & down, not side to side. I tried lifting the rail itself but that cant move up at all because the clearance on the bolt spots does not allow for any up or down movement. I tried adjusting both stoppers with no luck. I must be missing something here. Does anyone know where I can take my Z to get this fixed, or alternatively does someone that knows what they are doing want to help me? Need to get this fixed asap as it is stopping me from getting paint & rust spot fixed

I assume by this you are referring to the top stopper pictured above. If that is the case take note that the 2 pics supplied (mine and the others) are of doors on either side of the car, mine passenger - others are drivers. With this in mind check that the nut is on the correct side of the slots with the lug that contacts the window on the bottom edge. Other than this the round plastic stopper on the window maybe in the wrong place or missing. The third alternative is the window is WAY out of alignment and not going up and down in the correct pattern.

Ok so I pulled the trim off the passenger door to compare. Turns out that the cylinder shape thing which is normally attached to the window, which catches the window stopper is missing from the drivers window. Is it possible to transplant the a spare cylinder thing onto the window (as I can get one off a spare door I have sitting here). If not, how hard is to remove the drivers side window & replace with another window? I have searched tech section & forums but have not been able to find anything (maybe wrong search query)?

Yes you can. Its just held on with a screw which can be gotten to from the inside. That should fix it if its replaced.
