Im really not a fussy guy, all I expect is quality work and quality service :)Seriously, what is it with people who own businesses these days that just dont have a clue about how to treat their customers?I put my car in to get the wings west body kit fitted just over 3 weeks ago now. The guy painting the kit is great, calls me up, gets me around the shop to see fitment problems and ask how I want it to be handled. Trouble is I had to get the intercooler moved as its in the way. The pipework is too far forward. So over 2 weeks ago it was sent to Speedworks around the corner. Its been literally untouched until today. And I believe they are only getting to it now because of the pressure put on them by the painter. Now Im pritty patient when it comes to my car. I waited 24 weeks while the rebuild was being done (privately). 6 weeks while they (speedworks) installed the motec and did some other stuff. I didnt even call them once for the first 2 weeks this time around. But after 2 weeks of waiting for some simple pipework to be done and getting nothing you want to know whats going on.5 times I called, even emailed. Once I could hear him (AJ the owner) talking on the other phone and I was told he would call me straight back, never did. Went down there in person today and asked why I was getting the shaft. Especially considering I just spent nearly 8 grand there the month before. His answer was that if he spent 30 seconds to call me then thats one less job he could get done for the day. I was suitably impressed. I asked him if he thought that was fair after the car sitting here for over 2 weeks and he walked off and wouldnt even discuss it. Completely snubbed me for another customer.Im seriously annoyed right now. The car would be getting towed to another shop this very second if they could of fit me in this week. You can bet Im not returning to speedworks again. This sort of attitude really suprises me though. For the cost of a 22c phone call and literally 2 minutes of his time I wouldnt of cared if my car was there for another 2 weeks. I can appreciate being busy. A simple apology when I went there today and again I wouldnt of cared about it. So not only does he lose a customer that freely spends money on his car, but loses every referral that I was going to make to that place. Whats more everyone I normally refer is a doctor with a shitload of money to spend. Anyway, thats my vent. I highly recommend NOT going to speedworks. My search for a decent mechanic continues.

    I can sympathise >

I was getting work done a while back at a 'friends' place... He's a fully qualified mechanic with his own business... Back when I first joined the forum (search for my earliest post :) I was having misfiring issues... I took it in there about 5 times, each time he charged me $50 just for looking and always came back and said 'oh. it runs fine. we couldnt find a problem.' - I took it to Nissport and within 3 hours Spencer had called me up discussing what the problem was, where it was, and how to fix it.I wish you luck in your search Nathan. One question... Are you married? If so, how the hell do you get away with spending so much on your car? ;) :D
(I'm not even engaged yet and my g/f gave me shit about spending just over $30 on Meguiars clay block, lol) :-Z

:N( It's amazing how inept some repairers

are at simple business etiquette. Surely they must realise that 300zed owners are more likely to have a few extra bucks to throw around than the average petrol head and we are just dying to find a mechanic we can trust not to rip us off. If I find someone who wins my trust up front, i'm going to make damn sure I put every $ I spend on repairs in their pocket (together with as many of my friends money) as possible.I guess I'm lucky that I've found a few zed repair people in Brisbane I already trust ... and I only found these people thru this forum ...Good luck with your search !PS: If anyone needs a auto trans repairer then check out this post.

Mate you are one hell of a lot more patient

than I would have been. That really is absolutely piss poor service, I'd be taking off any going elsewhere even if it does take longer. If you have spent $8000 there and they are still treating you like that, then they simply DO NOT deserve your business.

that's why I've decided to do everything

myself from now on. I'm a shit mechanic but I'd rather stuff something up in the process of me doing it than letting a gresae monkey stuff it up and still having to pay a bill. It scares me when you have to tell a mechanic how to do his job.

    Your $8000 & apparent patience..

repayed with their attitude... I'd be upset too.
Good luck with your WA mechanic hunting.

    I can sympathise mate 8(

Only got my car back last friday (just in time for the weekend cruise:YD ) and copped some of the poorest service I have ever recieved from a mechanic. One call in nearly 2 weeks and when I called them I got nothing but attitude.Charged me $170 for a dyno tune of my S-AFC and couldn't even set the sensor type correctly! :(
It is now running very rich on a cold start and they are reluctant to fix the problem.Precise suspension & automotives came reccomended, but I won't be going back there. Was thinking of going to speedworks next, but obviously they won't be much better by the sounds of things. Enough to make you cry :`( Cheers

i use Precise all the time, and will >

continue to use them.... yeah, they have made a couple of mistake and yeah, they can get a bit slack returning calls.... but if you spend anytime in there workshop, you'll know why.... theres usually a que of people outside Daves office waiting to see him and the phone doesnt stop ringing!!Im happy to cut Dave, Joe and James at Precise slack coz i trust them with my car and if i get in a jam they will always help out.... plus there work to date has been pretty darn good. When it comes to mechanics - ive found - you cant expect them to be perfect. Find someone you trust with you car... and be happy with what you get. Lets face it, ive NEVER heard of a perfect and 100% perfessional (to our standards anyways) mechanic.... mechanics are in a class of there own when it comes to customer service (sad i know).Anyways, if you wanna use them Nathan - buzz me an email and ill give you Daves details... they had a car from Speedworks deliverd to them last week in similar circumstances (and no, im not having a go at speedworks or anything.... theres 2 side to every story... as we all know).

    Go somewhere else mate!

You don't deserve to be treated like that! No-one does! And they don't deserve your business! Especially with the kind of money you're spending. You could always get it shipped over here from WA to Colin's workshop! hehee.. I know mrTT does! =)

    Fair nuff

I just won't be going back there as I can't trust them with my car. Also found today, that in addition to not setting the sensor number correctly on my S-AFC, they didn't do the knock setting either :/The $170 dyno tune was a complete waste of money, as these weren't set properly.I was happy with the work I had done at X-Speed, but Myaree is a long trek for a north of the river boy :(
(Suppose I will just have to bite the bullet
    8( )Cheers
