    I wouldn't feel too secure if they>

are standard fittment on WRX's. They (WRX) are the most stolen cars in NSW, and are the vehicle of choice for almost every ram-raid or drive-by crime, not much of a testimonial for the burglar alarm.:N(Cheers

only the new models use the

brandt car alarm as a factory standard on the wrx. The older model wrx is the ones they steal.

Heh, I knew using the word "Ultimate"

    might raise a few opinions.
:YD Thanks for that clarification Chewy ...

I found out about Brant immobilisers when I was chasing insurance for my R33 Skyline.

Many insurers recommend Brandt as a first preference and in fact-if memory serves me, Suncorp insisted that the Brant was installed for theft cover qualification.

HOWEVER, I don't want to start a long debate. Lets just say that Brant is a superior system to a 'garden-variety' system you buy at KMart or SuperCheap and worth the extra money ... END OF DISCUSSION :!)

    MikeZ Blingz my thing

    Just rang Brant

as I need to get a 3 point immobiliser in my Zed. I already have a 2 point immobiliser with paging alarm but insurance companies require a 3 point system. So there are 2 options:Remove and sell paging alarm and fit entire new system (immobiliser, alarm etc), orKeep current system and compliment it with a 3 point immobiliser. I wouldn't want 2 remote controls so am thinking about a proximity sensor system so I just need to have the tab on my key ring.Brant just quoted me $348 installed (that's with a $50 disocunt for being insured with Y&C). That'll make my entire security system worth over $1k. Sheesh!Just weighing up my options.... any ideas?

Easy, I had same prob here's what I did...

Got "Action Auto Security - Robert 0408 984000" to come out and upgrade your existing 2 point unti to a 3 point.QUite easy- only took him about 1/2 hour but you will have to let them know what type first to check they can upgrade.

Cost me $120 for the upgrade and $60 for a spare remote. I checked with Torque Lumley insurance and all they want is written proof from the installer that the car is fitted with a 'passive 3 point immobiliser' for theft cover - everyone happy.

'Action' were actually referred to me by the insurance co so they obviously have a good reputation.

Alternatively, if yours is non-upgradable they will fit a new 3pt for about $240.

3rd option is to fit an additional 1 point immobiliser for a hundred bucks or so and run it off a transponder attached to your key token.

Again, as long as you have 3 points of immobilisation, insurance should be happy...but get it confirmed in writing of course... see you tomorrow :YD

Thanks Shane. Down here in NSW the>

thieves aren't too bright. Nobody told them that the "new" WRX's are unstealable, so the bloody idiots are just taking them anyway. Won't they have red faces when they find out:?) :D :D Cheers mate

Pleez ... lets rest this one now :!):!):!)

... I really wished I hadn't said anything about 'ultimate' or 'best' ...

The spirit of the original suggestion was to help out a fellow zedder ...

... not to start a brand war ... or spark a debate.

Moderators- suggest we delete this whole thread and just get on with the positive aspect of zed ownership ... whhich is after all why we're all here isn't it ?????????????????

Anyone got a spare "sense of humour"?:D

Mark, if your anything like the other QLD guys that came to Gilgandra, your probably a bloody nice guy.
You shouldn't take it to heart, when someone has an opinion that differs slightly from yours.
The facts are, that in NSW almost every WRX you see at night, is either on it's way to a ram raid, or returning from one.:D
If you were selling Iceberg Detectors, would you mention that they were standard fittment on the Titanic :?) Probably not. =) =) Cheers mate

Lloyd, sorry but I didn't "take it to heart"

just didn't think it was worth a debate over...

Without differing opinions ... life would be pretty boring, and very little would actually improve. I'm all for sharing experiences, just would rather do it on things that really matter ... and are actually 'humorous'.let's move on ...?
