Normal reverse when you first start off & then its like it changes to a lower gear or something !!

I havent driven the car at all in the last 4months (due to panel/paint at panelshop) and not a great deal in the last 12months. The p/shop also pointed it out, i had noticed it before then as well, when i would reverse down my driveway ! As you can see its not a real steep driveway ! but now the p/shop has said the same thing has happened when they reverse the car in + out of shop.
Is this a common occurance with the auto Z's ?? or can any one suggest what it might be ??

    cant say ive noticed

but my drive is flat not inclined.
Halfway along my drive the ABS buzzes as the car has moved enough for it to prep itself, maybe that has something to do with it in your car?

You may just need a service and filter clean. Sounds like the line pressure is taking a while to build

Thanks, will get it to an automatic-tranny place once its finished at the p/shop

and get them to service the box etc.

Was a bit concerned though, as it doesnt seem to matter whether its Hot or Cold !

    Thanks for your help !

Hi ALZ300, auto's do that if reversing down a slope. It sort of grabs and you notice that you need more accelerator to keep her moving.

There was a great explanation for it on here about 4-5 years ago  , but I cant find it now ?

Think it's got something to do with rear brakes(handbrake?) auto- adjusting with an application of brakes whilst reversing. Mine does it all the time, and have never thought anything about it:cool:

Caz1 ! Youv'e got it One, thats exactly whats going on.

Its like the car senses the steep incline and gears itself down.
So would the car be doing it at the panelshop (flat area) due to just being started and moved not warmed up properly & driven you think ??

I will get it to a transmission service if i ever it get it back ! from wide arch conversion lol  More hold ups !
see the ladders in the distance in the doorway of spray-booth ! well that 4x4 in front of them went through them (doors) yesterday. :vomit: glad mine was in next lane at least + not in the booth:( as expected !

panel/beaters son on school hols was in the 4x4 went for accessories i think (not 100% sure !) + it started, nearly run over his old man who was working on 4x4 and through the booth doors !!! im sure he got a BIG steel-cap boot up the arse and sent home. little shit. no one hurt thats the main thing !

Not that I've noticed. I'm just going on an experience I had after I put pads in one of my sons cars. New pads, bleed and simply couldn't get any pedal. Decided to take it for a spin to see if repeated application would help, as I backed out of the driveway and braked I heard a clicking noise and the next application I had full pedal. So I think it's a brake thing, not a TX thing, perhaps a brake expert knows exactly whats going on:cool:
