Wheel Shudder

Wheel shudder during high speed braking (120km/hr - 200km/hr). Would this be caused by wheels out of alignment/balance? The steering wheel vibrates badly when braking from high speed, with the vibration lessening as the speed decreases. It does not happen at all under 110km/hr.

This is a recent development and did not occur a few months ago. The Z has not been in any prangs or incidents in that time. Any ideas? Thanks.

    Rotors warped slightly maybe.

Check multiple posts/threads on this issue during the past year.

L&P, Myself(and numerous others) reported similar problems. One common problem was the Lower Radiator Support Panel being ripped/cracked apart, which in L&P's case resulted in tearing the Lower Tension Rod brackets off the car.
My car required the whole front end of the chassis rails to be welded and repaired.:zlove:

Rotors need machining and new pads as the others have said, I currently have the same problem for the second time in 10,000k's on new rotors.

Not ignoring Chili's post re cracked lower rad support panel, when I had new rotors (DBA slotted) fitted to the front, the mechanic recommended stopping further behind the car in front than I normally would have, then creeping forward very slowly to prevent a hot spot building up on the rotors, which may warp them. It's worked so far (20,000km). With the previous rotors (original OEM (very thin), reaching the end of their life) I needed to get them machined almost every 5,000km, until I was told they were no longer serviceable.

Of course, if you are braking very hard from speed, the other possible cause of vibration is your ABS kicking in.

    Agree with Stef

Glazing will produce symptoms often mis-diagnosed as 'warped' rotors on road cars.
