I have a tranny oil cooler installed because my modded gbox gets pretty hot, and now I have bought an electric fan for it and plan to have it going whenever the ign is on. Its located in the front bay alongside the stock oil cooler so now I am looking for some advice on connecting it up. Earth is simple but power is hard to find close by and I think I should run a relay on it. Any suggestions as to what to do ? Cheers
Run your main power from the battery with a suitable gauge cable, depending on how much current the fan draws, and the loom running to the fuse box in the engine bay is a good place to get a trigger wire for you ignition signal.
even with your saw you shouldnt need a fan. What size is your tranny cooler. I use the davids craig 678 i think they are without any problems.
but if you want to run a fan im sure saw has auxiliary outputs that you could use for a fan when tranny gets to certain temps. you will need to run it through a relay though
Its the biggest cooler I can get, its about 300mm x 200mm. Thing is I have a modded gbox and shift at will which gives a snappy instant change and hence makes a lot of heat and often the heat warning comes up on the SAW display if I am in the city or having a good ol fang in the hills. I think it cant do any harm to have a fan running on it to maximise the efficiency of the cooler. thanks for your replies guys
is your box got a shift kit and shift at will?? whats been modded in your box. i know how saw works i just dont know why its getting so hot. it shouldnt get that hot. do you have aux outputs in your saw. what version is it
I would run direct power from your fuse box, Use something like the A/C relay and it will have power as soon as the key is turned on
The gbox was bought from a fellow zedder in townsville, he had it modified for quick shifting by incresing the line pressure, the saw can vary the pressure settings and I have bought the cable to run to a laptop, but really like the way it has all turned out, in 'D' i get little engine resistance downshifting, it just gently grabs but in '2' i get all the usual gbox function but real downshifting resistance, it throws you into the dash if your not braking already. it all creates a lot of heat the way I have it all set up.(nice n' tight)
