Pulled up my boot trim the other day to replace the antenna mast, only to find this monstrosity!

ah its a shame what some people would do to such a beautiful car. Kind of disappointed it was mentioned prior to purchase, but meh, Caveat emptor i guess

I can't imagine it being a good thing, I assume its like this on both sides (haven't had a chance to check the other), heres the question, how much has been chopped out? aside from cosmetic wtf, is there any risk in having it like that? it does look like a support has been removed (where the antenna motor is mounted) should i look at getting it fixed straight asap? (any idea with what that would entail?)

The LH side doesnt have a support in place so the support thats missing in your zed is just for the antenna

Thats a depressing sight, that kind of dodgey work doesnt belong on a sports car. At a guess Id say the metal removed is there to add some support to the boot floor and add extra strength to that part of the body (such as for crash strength). You could try shaping some sheet metal to go in there and pop rivet it in if your concerned about strength. Personally Id be hitting all the cut edges with a die grinder to get rid of all the sharp pointy bits.
