i have had this issue with my front brakes it does not seem to happen all the time but most.

when i push my brake pedal in i get a sort of like creaking noise like a spring been pushed tight and releasing from the front brakes has anyone else had this and know of any solutions i am puzzled?

also sometimes when my car has been sitting stationary for a while ie ,parked at work.

then i start up and drive couple of hundred meters up the rd i brake like normal to stop and get a burnt rubber smell like i have been doing burnouts which i find very weird cos this is ocassionally

    thanks chris.

I get the weird brake noise, But also have NO idea why?
Would be nice to also get an answer....

My noise is excatly like the one you describe. The car stops and goes ok, I've had a look underneath, but nothing seems astray...?

    Cheers

    1: Remove brake pads
2: Apply brake grease to back of pads and pad retainer pin
    3: Reassemble
4: If sound persists, let us know

You should both check the condition of the castor rod bush. If worn, they will cause creaking while braking.

Could be tension rod bushes having carked it. Get the wheel off and have a look. Also check all suspension components are done up while you're down there. Could also be your pads, need a bit more info to be sure.

Did you end up fixing this problem? I'm also wondering why my brakes are creaking really badly...

All of you check you have the shims in place on the back of the pads.

When your pads get down a bit and the piston moves a fair way out of the caliper. You can get a creaking sound brought about by the piston being pushed off axis due to being so far out.

The shims are there not only to reduce squealing but to reduce the total amount of piston travel before pad replacement.

i had this problem for the last year it would creak pretty bad when i would hit or release the brake pedal, i new it was coming from the front.
changed my front pads yesterday as they were worn down a fair bit, now no more creaking, easy fix.
as Tektrader said check the shims, and put abit of brake grease on them.
though this might not be the fix for everyone who has this problem its worth a try and doesnt cost much or take too long to do.
