Hey Guys, I've got a problem and I think I've narrowed it down but can't figure out what it is.
When I boost, then let the accelerator of, I hear a leaking sorta sound. I thought it was just a boost leak, but its not. I have just resently had a stock exhaust on so I could get of defect, and I noticed that when I had it on the noise was alot quieter. I now have my 2.5inch back on, and the noise is alot louder now. I think it has something to do with my wastegate not opening properly, and instead of letting the preasure out quickly, its just sorta dribbling out.. If it is this and the wastegate is somehow stuck, can it be fixed easily? what else could it be. I'm positive that its something to do with something that will be quieter when a more 'mufflier' exhaust is on:p . any ideas?
    Cheers, Michael

    Possible exhaust leak?

    Can you describe the sound?

    I've heard

that sound on other zeds. When the stock exhaust is on its hardly noticeable, with 2.5 on you can actually here the gates leaking pressure or so it seems to me! My theory is there is much less backpressure with a 2.5 as opposed to stock system, which has plenty of backpressure. I think the way out of this is up the spring rate on both actuators.
Stock factory settings are 11-14psi. I reckon over the years the spring loose the strength, and leak as a matter off course.

how long does the sound last after you let go of the accelerator? does the sound start immediately after you let go?

Yeah its not an exhaust leak, had the guys go over it, and they can't find one. The sound is slightly delayed, maybe half a second after I release the accelerator. it sounds like a leaking noise to me. a metalic leaking noise. I maybe thought that it might have been a gasket, but that wouldn't explain it becoming quieter when the stock exhaust was put back on. I'm almost positive 99% that its the left turbo. I guess if all else fails I can just get it on the dyno and see how it goes.
If it is the wastegate not releasing properly, how can it be fixed? What else vents through the exhaust?

through the exhaust, don?t think that?s what you?re hearing; Mafi-zed had that sort off sound, like a high-pitched metallic sound after fitting dumps. It only happened when he backed off. Ask him what it was!
It was not the turbo's in his case.
