Anyone in WA know of a good garage to work on Zeds? Have a mate who's been quoted $5K to do a head gasket so just seeing what his other options are. It's a stock TT. Sadly I think he'll be opting to sell the car cheap "as is"
Swap in a known good engine? HG can be done with engine in (I believe Rollin has done this) but probably easier engine out. Also if it's overheated bad enough to do the heads gasket then the heads may need servicing etc as well... $5k sounds like a lot but it adds up quick with the time involved. Engine swap over a tech day sounds like a winner to me
Yeah that's what I'm thinking hey. Sadly poor bloke has lost his job and due to get married in May. Always bad lol Shame. Really straight un-modified manual 1993 TT too
thats right rob, i did heads once with the motor in place but it was no fun, no fun at all. 5k sounds on the high side. id probably do a job like that for 3 and a half but these days a good 2nd hand motor could be installed for the same or less
