Forum post in 2008 says the Aus vin will be something like "6U90000GZ32XXXXXX". The Jap vin will be the same but without the "6U90000" so it'll just be "GZ32XXXXXX". you should be able to find the Jap vin stamped into the firewall,
Further up in the same post is - On the 15 year cars the Aussie VIN is the same number as the Jspec Stamped VIN, Other RAWS cars have a completely different Aussie VIN number than the Jspec one.

Our first 2 seater has the green plastic looking strip with the Vin number panographed into it - rivited somewhere
Our 4 seater (now sold) was complianced a bit later - didnt have the green strip but Vin was stamped into RH shock tower

The current 2 seater we are looking to purchase has been registered since 2007 (info provided by securities registrar and has changed hands 3 times since) and I cant find the Aussie rego quoted Vin at the firewall or the RH shock tower or LH tower - HELP - the JDM aluminium tag by the radiator and the firewall coinside
I have sighted the current valid rego papers and the Vin has totally different number letter combination to the firewall number - so possibly not in the 15 year rule batch of cars
Have they got a new spot for the Vin ??

J,D.M is on fire wall about centre rear of motor at top of plenum height or there about. My car is black so it was dam hard to see the first time. My car has a green compliance number tag on top of the drivers strut tower. I have seen them on the radiator support and also riveted to the fire wall. Just keep on looking and you will find it if it is there. And 2 seaters are J.D.M not aussie so on the fire wall it is.
