I bought these a while back and have since tried to install them but I can't seem to work out the correct wiring setup. I know that the regulator has to be disconnected but from there I got no idea. The ver R driver switch has 6 pins instead of 7, and passenger switch has 6 pins instead of 5. I have searched the entire web for some sort of tech article or wiring diagram but have found nothing. Has anyone done this mod?
Well if it's any consolation - I paid Coz more than $1000 for a brand new airbag that's absolutely worthless to me unless I also import a LHD Zed!!! Yeah they just change things around for a laugh!
If you have the 2000spec version like I do you will need a new wiring loom for the door to wire them in. I was able to get the sub wiring loom from Z32Zone a few years ago but I am still missing a plug as the 97-98 switches only has 1 plug compared to the 2000spec switches.
Yeah I have the 97-98 spec with the single connector. I know it can be wired up with the existing loom because a japanese company sells an adapter set for this purpose. http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&langpair=ja%7Cen&u=http://www.zcar-owners.net/cgi-bin/diy_bbs/cbbs.cgi%3Fmode%3Dal2%26namber%3D68%26rev%3D%26no%3D0&rurl=translate.google.com&twu=1&usg=ALkJrhhxWptxegrJKFtf9-ysWC6eZZwn9A Surely I'm not the only one in Aus who has these switches.
Thats the sub loom I have. Im hoping that my 99-00 spec switches will work with that loom but I haven't tested it yet. Not many people know about the updated window switches so Its not the most well know part. When i got the loom I had a guy from the UK organise the whole thing and back then I didn't know there was a difference between the 97-98 and the 99-00. Im hopefull I will be able to get the 99spec OEM door loom one day.
If you have that sub loom you could tell me exactly where each wire goes. If you have some time to take a couple of photos of your loom, close enough so I can work out where each wire goes, that would be awesome. Heres a photo of my drivers side. :zlove:
I think these are the carbon fibre look switches that have the illumination of the buttons from behind?? Have a read here: http://www.aus300zx.com/forum/showthread.php?t=289215&highlight=illumination Might be some useful info regarding how to wire them up??
Yeah no problems, Give me some time to pull them out of storage first and get some photos. Sure, there were 2 different types of upside down switches for the Z32. 97-98 99-00 This is the main difference between the two switches. This little 4 pin connector is what troubles me, as my sub-loom doesn't have a connector for it. Also the carbon fiber trim pattern in these photos, on my switches are for the 97-98 model, the 99-00 carbon fiber trim is slightly different but looks a lot better in my opinion.
i have these switches as well but unistalled, im not sure how to wire them up and wether i have 97-98 or 99-00 switches either.....please post up how to figure this out lol!
If I remember correctly you would have the same as mine Jinxed. As i pretty sure cresta would have used the same numbers I did to source these switches. If only i had known what 5th (97-98) and 6th (99-00) models meant back then I would have the correct loom. Ill have to post up pictures tomorrow as Im super busy today guys.
look up the factory service manual, there must be a version for the updated models, this WILL include a circuit diagram for the window controls and should have a pipout chart as well identifying what wires go to what pins. Failing that any auto electrician should be able to figure out the differences in the switches and plugs and show you how to adapt the switches. Not to be rude but it's not rocket science
Probably wont work because of the 2 connector difference to the 99spec switches and they might be discontinued as well. It was another option I was looking at but I got caught up ordering heaps of other parts.
I figured this also that's why I haven't done anything with regards to the wiring loom just yet, until I see an auto electrician first.
There is nothing on the internet about the wiring for these switches. Someone will read this soon and save the day.
Well maybe you will need to talk to a Nissan dealer to get the latest version, possibly a dealer from Japan. And as said an auto electrician WILL be able to sort this out for you, it's not special Nissan electricity that isn't used on any other brand Seriously it's not that hard, get a multi meter, read up on electronics for a bit, start testing for continuity between terminals and compare both types of switches ... this would be sorted in ten minutes tops.
I will figure out the wiring and let everyone know How to do if if someone could be so kind to donate me one or find me one really cheep and ill buy it.
I have worked out the wiring for the drivers window switch and the passenger door switch but can't get the passenger window to work on the drivers side. How could that be possible when there are only two wires going to the passeger side?
