Two days after closing? No... The sample (the one in the pics) is at the fabricator but for a twenty piece custom order like this we're looking at minimum six weeks production time.

NB these are getting made locally by a very good, experienced, busy fabricator. They will be at least six weeks away but well worth the wait, please no "are we there yet" posts I will let you know as soon as they are ready to go.

Yep definately fair enough and I have had a few PMs recently along those lines.

Production is taking longer than it should have, with the work being outsourced to a shop with beter cutting/welding tools than UAS have access too. The big one is a TIG welder which is lighter and stronger than MIG.

John has had to move the job onto a second fabrication shop as the guys who originally accepted the job were taking way too long and not giving any firm ETAs. They are now being done by the same guys who did my exhaust.

I will call John monday and post a revised ETA. As soon as there is any development I will let everyone know. I want mine too!

 

Brace Update

OK guys, couple of braces are in stock ready for painting. Five have been made to date and the rest will be finished as soon as some more nuts and washers arrive....

Pic below shows the TIG welds (why we were waiting for specialist), you can see they are much neater than the MIG welds used on the sample. They are also much lighter and the production versions weigh 940g (no paint) compared to 1008g for the sample.

 

Yeah no worries, although the order will have to go in after jan 5th (when UAS reopen). Do you know anyone else from the nz crew that might want one?

 

Yeah they are being finished over the next two weeks, provided the guys building them stay on track (and they have been very good so far) they should be delivered to UAS on jan 5th.
