The best value/performance tyre(wet or dry) available for our cars IMHO is NEXEN N3000.:zlove::zlove::zlove:

    Out of the 3 listed

I'd have to say the P Zero if money didn't matter

I also would love to own a pair of Michelin pilot sports but again real pricey and for a lot of people, probably dont 'need' to go that far :)

I agree with Chili on the Nexen N3000 for being the best value and performer. From all reports on this forum and tyre rating reviews, you certainly get way more performance for your buck on those. Very good tyres

Just fitted Nexen 3000s and very happy with grip.

Just like the Yokohamas I wore out in 10000 kms  , so hopefully they will last a bit longer:D

    Ahhh thanks Lloyd

I will try and get a quote,

    For 225/45/17

I can currently get 2 x Eagle F1/Continental/Yokohama for around $300 each. I will ask about these and PZeros at the same time.

Does anyone know any other way of exploiting cheaper tyres?

    Egg ....

    Seconded

For the price you can't beat the Nexen 3000's
The Goodyear Eagle GS-D3's are an awesome tyre, better then the Nexens but twice the price nearly.

After heaps of research, I decided on the Dunlop SP Sport Maxx. Great for wet and dry and after fitting have no problems with wet driving.

Check out Tirerack.com for your own research. They also have a survey and professional tests.

I just put SP Sport Maxx on my car

I have to say, of all tyres i have used so far, they are up there.

Tyres used to date; Dunlop FM 901s, Pirelli P7000, Dunlop SP8000, Toyo Trampios, Falken 512, Eagle F1.

I cant remember exactly how much i paid for them but it was around the $220-$240 range for 235/45/17 at Eagle tyres in Granville.

For the price i paid, i reckon they are the best bang for buck.

    AndyMac Better than you

I will agree with you here...except for the pilot sports...I found them to be far too noisy, and the grip wasn't comparitive to the pzero's, they did however last longer.

Nexen's good bang for your buck, alas they don't make my size.

    IB ?????

235/45R17 would be a better choice, they're a standard tyre size for many Falcodores which makes them cheaper and more plentiful.

Eagle Tyres at Granville do some good deals(I have used them a few times) but I got an excellent price for my NEXEN N3000's from AGR Tyres at Sefton(near Chester Hill/Regents Park). $830 fitted and balanced, for a full set of 18"'s(265/35/18 & 235/40/18).

    Mmm i hear you...

But thats one thing that has always confused me, i thought the tyre size depends on your wheel size, like my 17's came with 225 on the front and 235 on the rear. Does that not mean my rims are 9" front and 9.5" rear?

    DrongoMan Sir

    Looks like Nexen N3000's

It is, cheers everyone. Now all i need to do is get rid of the 5 degree cambre on the front and i'm set for long holiday driving :)

  15. IB

    IB ?????

235 are a good size for 8" wheels and 255 are a good size for 9" wheels. I'd guess you've got 8" front and rear. The wheel size should be moulded or stamped into the wheel somewhere.

    Ok thanks

I'll pull the wheel off and have a look, ifi can fit them i guess more tread is better than less :)

    Dunlop Sport 9000's

They've always gotten me the best grip, if you can justify the bucks. Otherwise, Dunlop Formula 901's are a good compromise between cost and performance.

But what would I know? My Nissan's a turbocharged front wheel drive. 3#-)

I have the eagle F1's. Grips pretty good when new, very good in the wet and are very quiet. They do become pretty average in the wet around 50% tread depth.
