Ok i think everyone got their free samples of the Ice clear polish, who has used it and your opinions please.... I did polish my car with it and WOW best shine my Z has had yet. Did it again last weekend and ill swear it looks like a different car....lol Brilliant stuff, me likey. Opinions please???? Cheers Patrick
sorry pat, im the opposite. i used the sampler on the zed, it was like water. wasnt as good as i though. gave it a second shot on the tail lights, again nothing. i use meguiars tech wax II and i honestly couldnt rate it higher. the cut is brilliant and the shine is unbelievable! would buy this 3million times over before the turtle wax.. kindest regards. rod.
meh... i got my samples in the mail a while ago, but i havnt got a car worthy of half decent carwash let alone polish lol. gota love a matte black & white pig spec sil... hehehe i'm thinking about cracking out the cans and going all black this week, matte white catch's way to much crap! may try it on mums accord, its shiny n stuff
The ICE products are by "Turtle Wax" and are part of a system (carwash/polish/spray detailer etc)- The polish is not a wax finisher. It is basically a lubricant to be used with the sponge to collect the remaining dirt after washing to insure a perfectly clean finish prior to the wax application. The ICE range is expensive stuff. However, that liquid polish (watery stuff) is worthwhile because it prevent minor scratches while cleaning, and dosnt leave residue like other products. It can also be used on a wax finish to restore shine/clean. If you properly follow the steps/instructions, then a premium grade wax after ICE polish should guarentee showcar results depending on paint condition.
I use the Turtle Wax ICE liquid clay as an alternative to regular clay, and found it did quite a good job of removing most contamination before waxing with a full carnuabarararrrraaarrara...can't spell it, wax.
is there a site or tech on here on how to clean a car properly. i got the sampler too, still sitting there, iv always wanted to read through and learn how to clean polish wax etc a car properly, what i need to buy, what to use, etc, as i have no idea whatsoever
+1 on the canaubra (however you spell it) wax, works wonders Haven't tried the turtle wax though, I think that's this weekends project
member "zanjara" (nathan) did a brilliant article on total detailing some 3-4 years ago ... .. he is a professional detailer by profession ... good stuff ... !!! .. a search of threads/post by him should reveal all ...
Thanks Baz for the plug lol Yep its been a few years since i wrote them with the help of others and talking to people in the trade as well as doing a shit load of reading and doing using the products myself. Will have to write up new ones soon Just having a read through the tread in regards to the turtle wax ice. It is a good product to use if you know how... I have used it once before never had any problems with it at all goes on easy comes off easy. Like most new waxes/sealents that are coming out theses days they are all made with polymers which pretty much means the wax/sealent will last longer. Also with the Ice products they can be applied in the sun just like some of the poorboys products and others. The liquird clay bar not tryed it as much as i use a clay bar with final inspection. One thing to do after you have polished the car always lay wax down to protect the paint work. No use spending all that time if your not going to wax it as all that hard work you have done will go to waste. What do you mean by cut? Wax contains no cutting compound at all. Tech wax and Teah wax 2 = no difference its the same only difference is Meguiars says that tech wax 2 last longer. Yes it is a good wax if applied right. Canaubra wax is good as its all natural but only downfall is that it will not last as long as a wax or sealent with polymers in it. If you want you can always lay a wax with polymers in it over the top of the canaubra wax which will not only give it a more deeper water look but help keep the canaubra wax on for longer. One last thing when washing make sure it has a natural PH balance in it as this will help keep the polish/wax on for longer then using a product that does not have a natural PH balance. Now i am going back to my homework for tomorrow which is reading a manual for a course i am doing to give Toyota feed back to run this course or not.
my bad. i use the next generation range. in this order when washing for a show day. meguiar's car wash meguiar's smooth surface clay kit meguiars scatchX (on smaller parts) meguiar's tech wax II. from what i have used, its unparalleled by anything. the liquid didnt do that greater job to be honest, it seemed thin, and didnt do as greater job as the meguiar's but your the profession so i'll take your word for it.
At the end of the day you use what is best for you and what combo is best for you. One thing i would take out from your list and that would be meguiars scatchX. To be honest its hopeless on black cars not even worth it might as well use steelwool. But it may work for you with what ever result you are after. In the meguiars range i would use something like Showcar Glaze. Can be applied by hand remember no circle work you will create swirls forward and back motion and remove with a clean terry towel or microfibre cloth. Remember what i use at work its not off the shelf products so the meguiars i use is again different to what you see on the shelf at autobarn supercheap etc. I trialed a new cutting compund and glaze today that meguiars is bring out. Does the job really good and is not messy! A little bit goes a long way! and Remember also to mask up your moulds etc
zanjara, where do u get this pro stuff from which is not on the shelf? cheers......i hope your new article is in the tech section
Some autoshops do sell the stuff i use a range of 3m and meguiars. I tend to use 3m as it contains no silcone in the products plus work gets it thru there suppler plus i have been using it for years. I do also use off the shelf products there is some really nice ones and ones i wouldnt touch at all. But if you want to spend some more $$ you always goto... http://www.waxit.com.au Has a really good range of products you can get and they do work. It all depends on how you want your car looking. I will be writing some more techs up pretty soon when i get some time as work is starting to slow down a little damm you mazda 3 stop selling so much!
This site has a lot of good info, although like Al Gore it is in business for commercial gain. http://www.meguiars.com.au/Get_Schooled.htm
Carnauba wax is not a brand but a particular type of wax (mostly from Brazil) that is used in many top grade car care products - some of both Meguiars and Turtle Wax products use Carnauba wax.
to be honest, i would love to meet up with you one day mate. i would like to see you work, see what styles you have etc, and try to adopt them. the scratch X is only for when i get deep cuts, but my cars gunmetal so it works .. ok i guess. would still love to meet up or even see some of your work. very interested in this kind of stuff... kindest regards. rod.
Well i am back at work tomorrow. If i have a car in which i need to buff etc i will take photos. Depends how long i am in the office for after my 2 day course to see if it is worth while making the course real.
