Hey guys, me and a mate are trying to install a HKS type 1 turbo timer but are struggling to figure out some of the wiring. My mate knows his shit with electronics.... but we cant figure out where the "key switch connector" is and how to get to it.... any help with the rpm, speed and handbreak wiring would be good aswell. I've tried the technical pages about turbo timers but they dont work for me, also can't find anything useful on google or anywhere. HELP!!!

    Thanks heaps

Haven't done a turbo timer in ages - An expert will be along soon no doubt

Last one i did certainly didn't need a handbrake wire ? but that's probably same as DVD screen... that is you only need the handbrake wire as an earth and the Timer will only work if your handbrake is on.
It's the wire that actually runs into the bottom of your handbrake... don't have to have it, just earth that wire to the nearest bolt if you want, and the timer will work with or without handbrake.

As for other stuff... give it a day or two, some sht hot expert will post you something. Most timers i've seen use the same colour wires as car ingnition area so with my mates it was red to red, yellow to yellow and orange to orange, but that was on of those baby timers... Most also come with "okay" instructions but the pictures are the only way to follow sometimes.

    Wiring

Thanks for the pm, we got under the steering column, just a little confused as to which is which... we'll have another crack at it this weekend.... or whenever i find the time. I think the hand break connection is meant to be an anti-theft mechanism.... as soon as the hand break is taken off while its cooling down and the keys have been removed from the ignition, it'll kill the engine straight away so you dont have any bastards breaking in and driving off for the couple of minutes its still on for.

I think an auto-electician will have to be called if next attempt fails!

Anybody advise a good auto-elec around melbourne?

Yeah guess that after i posted

    Makes sense

Handbrake wire has to be the easiest to find

Its the only wire (besides the ciggy lighter wires) in the center console and it runs up to the handbrake so should miss it

If it's possible to drive when t/timer is on, then you have huge problems.
