Where do i get a tune in brisbane. i have a standard ecu - not socketed, with a piggyback blitz unit and a profec b II. i want a tune and a fuel reg installed. no nonsense, no running around just give car and get car back with 16 - 17psi running. Anyone got any places that tune standard ecus in brisbane
Lol I know of places not to go but I won't post them publicly. Benny C was tellin me about a place down the coast who is good. I'll check my inbox for ya. ...5mins later Ok they're called Gavin Woods Automotive.
. you will find many forum members that wouldnt be driving without gavin. I live on the north of brisbane and train it to gavins to pick up my car. its worth it. they even pick my up from the station never had a problem with him....ever.
None better than Gavin Wood Was in there today - new flush mount 4wd Dyno in sound shell now operating in enlarged (double-size) workshop - complete with a/c engine build room etc. Building and tuning some brutal Skylines at the moment.
I have a good mate who had some very simple work done at Mercury, he wasn't over the moon with it to be honest, and I cut my arm on the wonky, overly sharp oil filter relocation bracket. I'm sure that they would have fixed it for nothing, but my mate didn't look under his bonnet for several weeks I blame him more for not checking than the apprentice doing a quick job. Prcing reflected the job completed though Mercury do have a good name with big power Skylines. Your mate should be in good hands. I've had a talk with them before, they don't like Z's.. Tried to sell me a Power FC and a CES full exhaust system for the Z Kinda hard when both of those things don't exist... I'd stick with Gavin as he does know the Zeds. I know that AMEC has a tuner that they use frequently. Might be another option if you don't want to go down the coast.
Remapping of Eprom To suit mods, a re-tune may entail revision of fuel and timing maps at the least, to obtain optimum performance. But you already knew that, Vic.
....my....... ........idea is to go to him for a referral, and if there is other work needed, which it sounds like there is, he can do that too. Surely he farms out the ECU/Dyno work to a reputable shop. I would be surprised if he did not????
I would have recommended Justin @ Competition Tuning and Performance, but they usually work with Microtechs, Haltechs, Power FCs and the like.
Also maybe try GT Auto Garage at Newmarket. They do a lot of tuning on R34's,, Supra's and GTR's etc. Thats where I had my GTR dynoed.
i am looking for the stock ecu to be retuned, having a piggyback is a bandaid solution. I also want a fuel reg fitted so as i am trying to get the most out of the stock fuel system before i go for a rebuild and turbos - in the very distant future... maybe next year.
Having a Piggyback is not a band-aid solution. It allows you to run an adjusted timing and fuel map, whilst keeping all the functionality of your Nissan ECU. My Unichip has delivered me 8 litres per 100KM + a 12.6 1/4 mile time from a mechanically stock engine and auto trans. Before some of the members here started down the road of tuning and flashing of eproms, this was a common path to travel. The Unichip can hold two separate switchable programs (similar concept to Karl's Twin Tune Select), and has it's own EBC. It can also control other outputs like water injection etc etc etc. They will have their limitations like anything else, but don't dismiss piggybacks without knowing a little about them first.
That's the shop that did Pete's RB26 conversion. Completely agree, for example the Emanage Ultimate actually has more adjustments and parameters than anything that Microtech make And a couple of hundred less...
sorry pex i dont think i explained myself too well. I have a japanese blitz piggyback computer that i has a rev limiter of 12000 and richer tune so i get 300kms to tank
