Yeah I was also warned by the local nissan parts guy about the price increase on parts. Seems a strange thing to do if trying to increase profits, people will buy even less parts off them now:confused::confused:

Yes this might have been the case, but i dout it really as i actually waited about 2 and a half months before attempting to contact Simon and get the order processed, as no invoice had been sent to me after the initial order was placed via the website 2 months before. I had to email Simon once a day for about a week before things started to proceed through. I understand Simon's position but if the case is 'out of stock' items i would of liked a weekly email update on whats going on with the order. I know Caz has done this for me many times and has even sent me the in stock items while i waited for the out of stock items to come in.

It is all down to production costs.
As fewer and fewer spare parts are required by world markets for older models, production runs of spare parts get smaller and smaller, and the cost per part goes up for the manufacturer. They then sell the part to the OEM for a higher price, and they have to sell the parts to the wholesalers for a higher price ....

For example, we used to make and supply a dash insert with a/c vents for a now finished vehicle model. During production we would make 10-12,000 per year, and sell them for approx $35 to the car manufacturer. They would keep stocks of these as spare parts as well. Several years later, we are out of stock, and now, so is the car manufacturer. They have ordered 20 from us. To put the tools in and set up to make these will cost about $1000 in labour/overheads. But instead of making a batch of 2000, with a setup cost of $0.50 each, we will only make 100, therefore increasing setup cost to $10. So the cost to us has gone up $9.50 without even thinking about small runs, etc etc etc. And we will be holding 80 of them in stock for x number of years; remember, the customer only wanted 20. So why not make just 20? Because then the setup cost increases to $50 per unit, without 1 even being made! And we used to sell this part for $35!

Being an OEM parts manufacturer/supplier for the car industry is not an easy game, especially when most manufacturers are recording sales reductions and financial losses big time. Expect them to try to recover some of that loss by hitting spare parts pricing.

    So true!

NISSAN Japan have just put there prices up by about 18-20% across the board on ALL models!

Coz said they have already been hit with 2 price rises since the start of the year!
Don't be surprised if NISSAN Japan also uses the start of the new financial year to hit us again with another price rise!

Moral of the story is to get in sooner rather than later if you need OEM parts??.......but surprise surprise!......NISSAN seem to have very limited stock at the moment??.......coincidence?? I doubt it!

.. not an echo, lad .. and not the same at all ....

the one is the reality of the now ... the other is a "hope" ...

.. those of us who have been here for a while have seen multiple promises from the TTZ camp .. none, to date have stuck ... here's hoping things may change ...

I totally agree with you Ross. I'm not saying Simon is a bad guy at all, when he has sent me parts, im happy all around. Ive spoken with him in person and he is as you said 'a great bloke and knows heaps about the z32'. I did explain to him my projects plans he stated he would look into finding me the rare parts i needed when he had the time. It didn't really go anywhere but i knew that and wasn't expecting him to do all the work for me. I stopped using TTZ because Simon wasn't responding to emails as quickly as i would've liked him to and was very difficult to get in contact with him. But if you can help Ross i would be more then happy to order then TTZ as i know someone is there to process our parts orders correctly and quickly.

I would love to help TTZ anyway i could, personally. I have the Nissan Fast program at home and use it almost everyday. I would love to send orders to members all around Australia and do all that stuff making TTZ rep along with yourself Ross. But I'm sure you'll be able to handle it if you can get your foot in the door;).
