my 1990 na manual ADM was rear ended. Bought a 1992 TT auto JDM to replace it. TT motor was smokey so after much consideration I decided to put the NA engine/box into the JDM. So far the confirmed compatibility/incompatibility are: Compatible: - NA intake snorkels to TT bumper intake pipes - exhaust looks to match up between JDM dumps and ADM headers (unfitted) - clutch master and pedal is good after firewall drilled and auto reverse chime box relocated - angle grinder made the manual brake rubber fit the auto pedal, small slice in rubber boot required to clear reinforcement on auto pedal Incompatible: - NA ADM engine loom does not plug in to TT JDM body loom - significant differences with some plugs being different pin counts and others just plain missing, this applies to both the fuse box area and the plugs behind the drivers side light - manual box harness to auto body loom differences (this is fairly well documented here) - Have not tried however reportedly the auto/TT speed sensor will not work in the manual/na gearbox due to cog size differences Other notes: - in this case the TT power steering and alternator was retained and the AC was deleted - speedometer will be out, will read low compared to actual vehicle speed as TT diff gearing taller than NA. I will update this thread over the next few days as more things crop up.
compatible: - na 2+2 manual front half tailshaft to tt 2+2 rear half tailshaft - manual shift boot fits onto the auto shifter surround (handbrake and center console trim). screw holes are there. no screws. incompatible: - NA AC pump to TT AC lines other notes: - to use TT power steering pump, the TT harmonic balancer and PS pump bracket was needed - water pump pulley sizes are different between NA and TT
