:zlove:Hi All Thanks in advance. I am about to fit trans cooler to my '89 NA, just wondering can anyone tell me. The trans lines that go into the radiator which on is in & which one is return. Is it the top in & bottom return?? Cheers Pete:br:
Have been advised that for optimum performance of the cooler that the radiator should remain connected & that the return line from the radiator should run to the top of the cooler then out at the bottom back to the tranny. This evidently the best flow rate for fluid cooling & will drop fluid temperature more effectively & remain more consistant. Made sense to me so I thought I'd find out. Thanks for the replies Pete
Bypass the rad as it is often a choke point for debris and may already be partially restricted. Whichever way you plumb the cooler is ok.
If you want to put things on the car as designed then read the factory manual .... simple really. That's why car companies go to the trouble of producing them, so people can read them and do things the right way
Agreed, rad cooler is often the demise of many a Z32 auto trans - only because of lack of servicing in the first place though. You may have to excuse Lurker, he has just sort of moved to Auckland ... this may result in some personality change
you can bypass the rad but before you connect up new cooler make sure you flush all cooler lines you dont want any crap going into the new cooler.
That's OK I understand what he's saying but unfortunately don't have a manual as yet I'm not getting my knickers in a knot cause I don't think he was trying to be a smartarse, just offering sensible advise
