I replaced my timing belt a while ago following the service manual and set the tensioner with 4mm clearance. I've just taken my timing covers off and found that there is now no clearance. Is it normal for the tensioner to close up after driving? The belt deflection feels fine. I'm wondering if I should readjust to 4mm so there is room to move in the future or if all is normal.
That happened to me. So i retensioned it back to 4mm. I kept turning the car over until it remained at 4mm rather than closing up again.
