    red32 You talkin' to me?

What a totally crap job, Fate.
But to be positive, you now have a lot in common with Mark Weber. To quote Martin Brundle from the Japanese GP commentary: "If he didn't have bad luck, he would have no luck at all!"

Its probably to late for you but.....

If you have your car at any workshop, and you think the work is substandard or not what you negotiated, you can take your car out without paying. If they refuse you can ring the police and make them give it back to you. It is then up to them to get the money through the courts if they want to.

Thats bloody back luck man.... And believe me i know how it feels..

I had a crash in my car about a year ago.. took the crash shop over 2 months to repair it as they were completely incompetent.. I then get it home only to find that there is over spray, parts not being blended and cracks in the new paint...

I refuse to take it back there as i know it will take them another 2 months and i still wont be happy with the job.

This time it is going to be done properly, as i will do it my self... (Pitty the insurance company wouldn't let me do it last time)

Sometimes to get a good job done you need to do it your self.

If you got the repairs done through insurance you are well within you're rights to demand it be done again until its perfect, however its up to you as to weather you need your car back soonish or not...

I can't believe how much money you've spent on getting other people to work on your zeds Fate , you could have bought a whole workshops worth of tools and a hoist to boot .
    Crazy man ....
Do it yourself ffs ! :p

leave it in the hands of the insurance company.
If it's not satisfactorily resolved, the workshop will lose a lot of insurance business. It's not in their best interest to do that.

    update

I have contacted the company whom of which reversed into me and advised them of the work that has been done, they are very helpful and have said they will do whatever is necessary to get it fixed properly.

I have also sent the photo's off to show how poor it was.

Will keep on the tails and hopefully get all the mess cleaned up.

    (fingers crossed)

good saun....dont let this be the end of it. that is some very dodgy work...are you able to now nominate someone who can fix it or will you have to use the same people??

They wont lose insurance jobs... however it is up to the workshop to repair it properly, if you are not happy get in contact with insurance co and say you are not happy with the work. This is coming from someone inside the industry btw(not me). If it takes six times to get it up to a decent standard then it is the workshops responsibility to do it until you are happy with the repair(this happens all the time).

    Cheers mate. :)

I too come from the Insurance co background so have a basic idea of how it works. Persistance and alot of jumping up and down will get you EVERYTHING as long as you do it in the right order. :) Pleasantries will get you along way also.

Will stick to my guns on this one.

Will now just wait for a reply.

Maaaaahhhh...it's the consistent posts of shit like this that make me do my own work...even going to give spraying a go in the near future. So many workshops just don't give a rats ass about modified cars.

    Haha... that they do indeed!

Was impressed they spent the extra 10 mins giving them a clean up for me :p. Shame bout the rest of the work $1500 for shined up rims. Not so bad is it?

Its not just modified cars, even brand spanking new cars arnt repaired to a decent standard these days, yes the shops are to blame but the way the insurance companies have killed the industry... they're just as much to blame..

I don't disagree, but once we start talking aftermarket body panels, and fitment issues, the care to fit it right just isn't there.

Saying that, I had a girl cut in front of me in the previous zed on the gore hill freeway and hit the car in front of her, I then proceeded to go under her Carolla, her insurance covered it, sent me off to Scudaria for a new nose and paint. Freaking immaculate. Asked how much for a job like this, $2500. That was just for the front bar, and paint. I had the whole car resprayed for less then that, and you could tell.

Oh definitely true with the aftermarket stuff, but if you dont have the know how or spray equipment sometimes the owner is left with no choice but to go to one of these shops. Its very rare these days to get someone who truly cares about their work, cause there isn't a real emphasis on quality, especially at the larger shops. My dads got some real horror stories about dodgeys he has seen. What insurance company was the girl in the corolla with?

    AAMI.

They gave me a choice of a few places, and Scudaria was one of them, they did one of my Dad's friends Ferrari 275 and it was concourse, so I figured my zed deserved no less.

BTW, the job on the Ferrari was completely bare metal, everything out, perfect job and not much change from $25K

Yeah last job my dad did was a bare metal resto of a ferrari that had come from HK.. thing was FULL of rust, funny thing was it had been painted so many times there where numerous layers of paint, almost like looking at the rings of a tree going through the different layers haha.
